Song: Complicated
By: Olivia O'Brien
Dedicated to: Kailey & Jenny
"You did the best you could, Aylee."
I twirl my straw around my cup and shrug, "I guess."
Mencia sighs while patting my back, she knows I'm too closed off for her to even try to make me feel better.
We lost today's game and a big part of me is blaming myself.
My head was elsewhere and I messed up. I didn't do my part as a defense. The team got a few scores because I failed to do what was expected of me. What I was trained to do for weeks.
I can tell everyone was annoyed at me after the game. Even the coach pulled me aside and asked if I was doing alright.
Nothing was wrong, I was just overthinking everything too much. It happens during big games like the one we just had but I should've known better.
I should've put those thoughts away and played.
"Don't worry about it, Aylee. I'm sure next time you'll be focused. It happens." Niko wraps an arm around my shoulders and I still feel like shit.
"I just need to sleep it off. I'll see you guys later." I slip out of the booth and head to my hotel room.
The guys also had an away game at the same high school. They won their game of course and we were celebrating by eating at the buffet the hotel has here.
I'm just not in the celebration mood.
I entered my keycard and went into my room, heading straight to my bed.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't cry a little before falling asleep.
