Chapter Twenty - Ana Protection Detail

UNKNOWN POV

"You've got to handle this better, Michael. I'm starting to look like a fool." I seethed, glaring down at him.

"I saved your ass, remember? Maybe you should handle this better. You are the one that wants them dead after all," he said, leaning casually against the wall opposite me.

"Get the alpha and kill him. That will make Ana an easier target, she'll be weak and she'll do stupid things. Stupid like come looking for us when she's to weak to fight." I sighed, over turning Michael's sarky comment to me.

"He won't be easy to kill," he disagreed with a shake of his head.

"And you won't be getting to Ana again without him getting in your way anyway. She'll be his main priority right now. So kill him and she'll fall right where you want her." I told him. Before I say anything else, I smelt something air then froze, "We've got company,"

Michael froze too, giving me a quick glance before racing off in the other direction from me, away from the trespassers. What a protector he is.

RYAN'S POV

"Who was it?" I pressed, leaning forwards towards him.

Jared Howe shook violently in his seat, not answering my question and I rolled my eyes. I'm not that intimating, plus, this isn't your usual interrogation. He's sitting in our lounge room with coffee in his hands.

"Come on kid, I ain't gonna hurt you. I just want to know what you saw," I carefully explained to him.

"How do I know that you're not like 'them'?" he asked me through narrowed slits.

"'Them'?" I asked him.

"The killers." he shivered, then he finally looked up at me, "Where's Ana?"

I stiffened, "That is non of your concern," I shook my head.

"She's my friend, I need to make sure she's okay," he frowned at me.

"You trust her?"

"Yes."

"If she asks you questions will you answer her?"

"Yes." he replied again.

"Very well," I mumbled under my breath and stormed out of the room.

If he wants to talk to Ana then he shall.
I walked down the hall to where I found Lexi and Cassie on the floor in front of Doc's office. Cassie is sitting upright and Lexi is lying horizontally with her head on Cassie's lap. As I approached Cassie looked up at me with droopy eyes and held up her index finger to her lips then looked down at Lexi who as fast asleep on her lap.

"How long have you two been here?" I whispered to Cas as I slid down the wall next to her.

"I've been here for about 2 hours and Lexi was here before I came." she whispered back.

I smiled gratefully at her, "Thank you, I really appreciate it and I know Ana would too," My smile wavered at the mention of Ana.

"She's going to be okay Ryan," Cassie sighed as she touched my shoulder carefully.

I smiled at her and nodded once.

"Ryan?" I looked up to see Doc standing in front of us.

I clambered to my feet quickly, "Doc?" I looked at him with worried eyes.

"Ryan!"

ANA'S POV

"Ryan!" I smile lovingly at him as I exited Doc's room.
