Chapter Two - Self Belonging

I hurried along, looking down at the map and then looking up, trying to find some landmarks that I noticed on a map, like room numbers, the cafeteria etc. Apparently trying to get to my first class on time will be the biggest thing I'll have to overcome today. I hope Zac is having better luck than me. This school is huge, which makes it challenging enough, but whoever drew the map needs to be fired and get a new person, because I seriously don't get this. At all. It's a bunch of lines and boxes that make zero sense.

I rounded a corner while muttering to myself when I bumped into something hard. I fell backwards until my bum connected with the solid concrete ground and I winced at the slight ache.

"Oh! You alright?" I looked up to see a boy looking down at me with worried eyes, he bent down to pick up my papers and books before offering me a hand up. Gratefully, I took it and he pulled me up to my feet with ease.

"I'm really sorry," He smiled apologetically at me, as I brushed off my pants.

"It's alright, no harm, no foul. Plus I ran into you," I smiled at him as his face suddenly lite up into a bright smile at my apology acceptance.

He was good looking with his baby face and cubby cheeks, but I'd more call him cute rather than 'hot' as his features are too childish to be called anything else. His blonde hair was styled to perfection, and his blue baby eyes sparkled with happiness. He was obviously someone who took pride in his appearance, maybe trying to make him look older, I'm not sure.

"Can I do something to make up for knocking you over?" He asked with a smile, raising his brows at me. I definitely wasn't going to pass up some help, or making an ally.

"Ah, I'm looking for my English class," I mumbled as I handed him my timetable, looking up at him hopefully as he studied the paper.

"You're in the same one as me," His smile widened, if that was even possible, "Come on, I'll take you!"

"Thanks," I smiled at him as I followed him down the corridor. I could tell he was going to be one of these over helpful boys that would do anything for you at the drop of a hat, again, I wasn't going to pass up the help.

"So what's your name, new girl?" He asked curiously as we walk, him leading the way, glancing sideways at me at any chance he got. With my heightened senses I would pick up more than I was meant too, including the way his heart picked up pace when he spoke to me, or the subtle flush of pink in his cheeks when I smiled at him.

"Anastasia," I smiled up at him, "You?"

"Nathan," He smiled a little to happily back, "So how long have you been in town?" He asked another question promptly as I mentally rolled my eyes at his eagerness, I momentarily wondered that the the more friendlier I was to him, the more interest in me he'd be.

"Only about two weeks," I answered, now keeping my eyes now trained on the floor.

"Not long at all. Do you like it here?" He asked another.

"Ah, it's nice I guess. Different." I mused. Hopefully different in a good way.

By this time we were standing outside an old red door of the class room, that looked like it belonged in a barn, not a school, the sign on the door read: ENG06 the same that was on my timetable. If I had to find this on my own, i definitely wouldn't of made it. I slightly regretted now not taking more notice of how to get to this classroom for next time.

"Here we are." He announced as he opened the door for me and gestured for me to go first like a gentleman.

"Thanks," I acknowledged as I walked passed him, into the room.
