Chapter Eighteen - Everyone's Business

ANA'S POV

I carefully spread the strawberry jam over my browned toast, making sure to spread it evenly and get into all the corners. I wouldn't call myself pedantic but you could probably say I have a mild form of OCD. My mind wanders to the events of the previous day. My mum. I still can't believe her, and she has the guts to tell me what I can and can't do. Zac, the poor boy. He just had a complete bombshell dropped on him. I mean it's a boat load to take on. I can't help but feel slightly guilty for leaving him there, but what can I say, I was fed up with my mum's bipolar attitude and I couldn't wait to see Ryan. Ryan... All guilty feelings about my brother melt away as Ryan fills my thoughts. His chiseled jawline, and sculptured muscles, glimmering with water droplets. His expert hands, running gently down my back. His lips...

"Well my dentist tells me to brush for two minutes, but how are you meant to know when two minutes is up?" Lexi said as she walked into the kitchen with Cassie and when she spotted me her face lite up like a Christmas tree, "Ana!" I snap out of my dazed state just as Cassie falls in behind Lex. They both smirk at each other knowingly before turning their backs to have a quick, hushed conversation. I feel very suspicious all of a sudden and contemplate leaving when they both spin around in unison and slam their hands down on the bench top making me jump.

"So... Sleepover last night ae?" Cassie wriggled her eyebrows suggestively as I blush bright red making them laugh.

"You stickybeaks need to keep your noses out of other people's businesses" I attempted to laugh it off, taking a large bite into my toast.

"Does our business include that huge rock on your finger" Cassie asked, nodding towards my ring finger.

I blushed deep red once Lexi's eye fluttered down to my left hand as I attempted to swallow my rather large mouthful.

"Oh. My. GOSH!!" Lexi squealed going up several octaves at the end. She races over to me, snatching my hand rather aggressively before gently examining my gorgeous ring, "When?! How?! Where?! Do not skip single detail or I will kill you"

I roll my eyes at her, "Yesterday afternoon when I came over. He was planning to do it over lunch, but I came early and said I didn't want to go to lunch, caught him in only a towel and he proposed" I shrugged keeping my description as basic and undetailed as possible, purposefully missing out the last part of the night...

"Oh girl!" Cassie claps her hands excitedly before lowering her voice. "Please tell me you took that towel off him?!" She asks, leaning in closer across the table.

My eyes widened at her and I blushed even deeper red. How did she know?! Oh my god we weren't loud were we?

"Oh my gosh! You totally got it on with Ryan in his bed!" Lexi squealed. Dammit, I'm never going to hear the end of this.

"I bet they didn't even make it to the bed" Cassie snorted.

I shoved the other piece of toast in my mouth, glaring at my giggling friends.

"So what if we didn't?" I challenge Cass smirking. He face drops to one of pure shock. Oh the satisfaction in seeing Cass this shell-shocked is so worth the teasing.

"What didn't we do?" I turn round to see Ryan walk in and I almost choked on my food.

"Ana!" He gasped as he ran over and patted my back while I splattered.

"I'm okay" I mumbled once I stopped coughing.

"Did I scare you?" He asked, frowning down at me. His forehead was beaded with small droplets of seat from his morning run and his eyes are full of concern. My heart swells. Man do I love this boy.
