Chapter Nineteen - Knifed

When we pulled up to the front of the school it was totally deserted.

"Aw crap, of course there isn't any school." I sighed, duh, of course. There was a mass murdering here that sparked an outrage amongst our town, why would there be school! I've been so preoccupied that I haven't been thinking straight.

"We aren't here for school." Ryan murmured.

I looked over to him with a frown, "We're not?"

"No. We're here for clues," he said stiffly, getting out of the car.

I hesitated for a moment before opening my door and walking around to where he stood. I remembered the last time I was here and shivered. Blood and bodies everywhere, has it been cleaned up yet? Judging my the police tape that lined the parameter, probably not. I still can remember the cool chill in the breeze.

Sometimes I wonder why I'm not more scared by all these events, I mean I I know I'm not a normal girl, but anyone should be scared by seeing their school canteen covered in blood and bodies. I'm just waiting for the break down.

"Are we meant to be here?" Lexi whispered quietly.

"No," Ryan said sternly, "But we're going in anyway. I want to get a scent."

I frowned again as I looked up at him, studying his emotions as he scanned the school for any signs of danger.

"Michael's scent?" Axel raised a brow sceptically.

Axel was right, wouldn't Ryan already have Michael's scent? And if not, couldn't he get it from the warehouse? Why the school?

"No," he said bluntly, "I don't feel Haze is the only one behind this. I think someone is controlling him,"

"Like a puppet," I murmured, understanding where he was going with this.

"Huh?" Cassie frowned, obviously not understanding our thoughts.

I turned around to face the others, they all looked between me and Ryan, they clearly don't understand yet.

"There has to be someone else behind Michael. Think about it," I pause for a moment, "If you were a killing mastermind, wouldn't you get someone else to do you dirty work, to keep your hands clean?" I asked them.

"Haze is the puppeteer," Dylan mumbled, and I rolled my eyes.

"Lexi? Cassie? When they kidnapped you, did you see anyone?" Axel asked them.

"No," Cassie shook her head as if getting the memory out of her mind, "It suddenly went almost foggy, then I was grabbed and then woke up in the warehouse,"

"Same." Lexi agreed, glancing over at Cas.

"Come on," Ryan spoke, stepping forwards towards the school. We all followed his lead, ducking under the tape and stepping onto the restricted land. I kept my senses alert to any type of danger. whether it be from humans or the supernatural. On the front door a sign was taped on,

DO NOT ENTER

POLICE INVESTIGATION IN PROCESS

Ryan ignored it, pushing the squeaky door open. The smell hit me instantly and my hand flew up to my noise. The smell was of death and decay.

"Ew." I moaned, the others agreed with moans of their own.

Obviously they haven't cleaned it up yet. We walked in a beeline for the canteen, the centre of the action. I gasped in horror.
