Addison's POV

We're almost there. It's been 15 hours of me and Mer switching off driving and I'm driving the last hour. Meredith is curled up in the passenger seat fast asleep.

I'm staring at her for about five seconds when traffic all of a sudden comes to a halt.

~Screeeechhhh~

I slam on the breaks, my breathing stopped for a moment. Meredith jolts awake.

"Ahhh Meredith I'm so sorry I had my eyes off the road for a few seconds and traffic hit." I apologize.

Meredith sighs and says, "Addie it's okay. Shit happens. The amount of times I've done that is astronomical." She giggles and pushes her seatbelt away, leaning in to me to give me a kiss.

I miss her back softly and tell her I love her.

"I love you too, Addie."

It's about seven in the morning when we arrive at Oceanside Wellness.

"We're heereeee!" I say in a singing voice.

"Yayyyy." Meredith says nervously.

"What's wrong baby?" I ask her.

" I'm just nervous they won't like me..."

"Oh honey, they're going to love you. Let's leave the bags in the car and go upstairs, then we'll go to the hotel." Meredith nods her head in agreement and we get out of the car to start heading inside.

We walk past the coffee shop that's on the first floor and wake out way towards the elevator. When we step inside I press the five button and the doors close and we start moving.

When the doors open, I take Meredith's hand and we step out together. I'm hit with different aromas and can smell lavender, which I'm pretty sure is Meredith's conditioner, patchouli, and lemongrass.

We start walking through to the desk when I look to my left at the waiting area and see a young girl sitting on the couch.

"Maya?" I question.

"Addison!" She shouts.

"My God I haven't seen you since you were little. You're all grown up now." Maya runs up to me and pulls me into the biggest hug.

"I missed you so much kiddo. Where's your mom at?" I ask her.

"She's in her office. I'll go get her." She prances off for a few minutes and when she comes back, I'm flabbergasted. I haven't seen Naomi since college.

Naomi walks up to me and looks at me for a moment and then pulls me into a hug.

"Where you been? I haven't seen you in quite a few years. I've sent you Christmas cards."

"I know and they were lovely. I decided to make a surprise trip. I wanted to see my best friend." I look over at Meredith who is standing next to me awkwardly.

"I also wanted you to meet someone." I put my hand on Mers shoulder and kiss her on the cheek.

"Naomi, this is Meredith. My girlfriend." Naomi seems a bit taken a back.

"You are not what I was expecting. You're beautiful! Not at all how Derek described you." Naomi says.

Meredith and I's faces both get red and I stutter,

"Derek talked to you?" I ask her.

"Yeah he called me after he found you both in an on call room. I've just been waiting for you two beautiful people to show up." Naomi says to it home eyebrow raised. "It's been six months since then, what took you guys so long?" She asks me.

Meredith jumps in and says,

"We've been planning this for a while but since I'm an intern, this year has been crazy and I haven't had a chance to get time off. Luckily I was able to get some friends to cover for me."

"Ahhh I see. I'm just glad you guys are finally here. Come on let's go get some lunch. But first, do you want to see Sam?" Meredith looks confused and I remember that she's never met these people.

"Sam is Naomi's husband. That little girl... although not so little anymore... that hugged me in the waiting room is their daughter."

"Ohhh. Okay." Meredith smiles and takes my hand and the three of us walk to the conference room. I see Sam, a curly haired, middle aged woman, and two middle aged men standing around.

"Addie! What're you doing here?" Sam walks up to me and embraces me. I hug him back and step back.

"I mean it's been a while. Decided to take a road trip with my girlfriend and come see you guys." I decided to slip the girlfriend thing in, in a non chalant way so that it's not awkward.

Sam walks up to Meredith and extends his arm. She takes it and shakes his hand.

"I'm Meredith, it's nice to meet you Sam."

Naomi starts going down the line of people and introducing them. The woman with the curly hair is named Violet. She's the therapist for the practice. One man's name is Pete, he's an "alternative medicine guru," as Naomi calls him. The last man's name is Cooper and he's the pediatrician.

"It's nice to meet you all." I say as I shake all of their hands.

"I'm Addison. I went to medical school with Sam and Naomi."

"Oh we know who you are." Violet says to me. "Naomi never shuts up about you and how she misses you."

"Awww Naomi misses me." I say taunting her. She punches Violet on the arm in a joking manner and groans.

"I can't catch a break here can I?"

"Nope! Anyways how about that lunch. What did you have in mind?"

"Oh I know the perfect place. There's a cute little cafe around the corner that we can go to. I think you'll really enjoy it." Naomi says to me.

I take Meredith's hand and ask her if she's hungry and she nods her head.

"Does a cafe sound good to you babe?"

"As long as they have sandwiches I don't care where we go."

"I like her already." Naomi says to me. With that we start towards the elevator and go to lunch.
