****Chapter One- Old Memories*****
***10 yrs before***
I was 13 when I realized my feelings for Jake.
We were sitting in our tree, he was finishing homework and I was thinking about what had happened the last few days. I do that a lot.
I had suddenly been so tongue tied around him it was so ridiculous! I would get butterflies when he would come by me... It was like I had.... No Cameron! Don’t even think about it. But I do, I have feelings for my best friend Jake. I can't believe it. There is no way he felt the same way about me.
"Cammy are you still here or wonderland?" I heard Jake call from his branch of the tree.
"Oh yea, sorry I was off in my own world think..." said trying not to sound to abnormal.
He gave me a puzzled look buy shrugged it off. That cute puzzled look he get with his eyebrows slightly raised, a smirk of confusion on his face, and you could see his eyes searching my face but he found nothing so he just ignored it.
"So whose house do you want to go to for dinner?" I asked him, it was a normal day. We would always have dinner with each other 3 times a week, Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Today was Monday.
"How about mine because I think my mom is making fettuccine, which is your favorite in the world, am I right?" He said giving me a knowing smile. I just nodded and that was settled.
We went on as usual for months and months. I would never tell him how I felt, he either had a girlfriend or I knew he didn't feel the same.
****
One day when we were 19, living in the same apartments he asked me out to dinner instead of eating at one of our houses. I was kind of suspicious but excited none the less. He said he was taking to the new fancy place downtown & to dress nice. I got dressed in my new white & black satin, knee-length dress, with a belt in the middle. I added black shoes, put on neutral make up and curled my hair so gently so the curls just flowed it the edge of my shoulder. I felt truly beautiful for the first time in a while.
I heard the door knocking and I knew it was Jake. I answered and he looked amazing. He was wearing a deep grey suit with a light grey tie. The grey of the suit made his eyes pop even more.
Snap out of it Cameron.
"You ready to go Cammy?" He said taking my arm.
And with that we left.
The restaurant was absolutely beautiful. Jake had reservations and we sat and ate dinner. Talking and laughing. I had decided that tonight I'm going to tell Jake how I feel about him.
"So Cammy, I have to tell you something" he said catching me off guard.
"Ok shoot"
"You know how I want to be a director? Well my friend in LA said he has a great movie script and they want me to go and direct it. I took it. I'm leaving in two days" he said looking like an excited 5 yr old on a sugar high.
"Wow that’s great Jake I'm so happy for you" I said feeling crushed on the inside doing my best to hide it.
He grabbed my hand and said
"I won’t forget about you Cammy. You are the one who inspired me to follow my dreams and I am"
“I know that’s why I’m so happy for you" I said as we got up & walked to the car.
We spent the next two days packing his stuff & just being together every minute. He left that Friday and I hugged him goodbye at the air port. I never told him how I felt, I probably never will.
"I've got you" he whispered as he hugged me.
"I've got you 2" I replied.
Then he left. He was on his plane to LA. And my Jake was gone
