****Chapter Eight-Under the Stars*****
The movie was over and the rain was even heavier now. So I asked Jake if he wanted to stay and just relax maybe play a few games who knows. He agreed and we both walked into the kitchen. I grabbed my usual Dr. Pepper and out of habit grabbed him one too. It was always his favorite. He was sitting on a bar stool at my counter. The same one he always did ever since we were little. I handed him the Dr. Pepper and set mine next to him by the other stool. He opened both of ours like always.
"Oh sorry I didn't ask what you wanted to drink. It’s just a habit to get the two Dr. Peppers.” I said.
"Don't be sorry. My taste hasn't changed, Dr. Pepper is still my favorite" he replied with a slight chuckle. He was still the same Jake I remember....and still the Jake I fell in love with and still am.
"What do you want to do??" I asked smiling at him.
"How about we just sit and talk, I miss those days" he said looking into my eyes. It was like we were frozen for that very moment and it ended all too quickly.
“Sounds good to me" I said glancing at my feet trying to hide my face while I smiled like an idiot. The rest of the day went by rather quickly, just sitting talking and playing games.
Around 8pm it had stopped raining so we decided to go on a walk in the dark that we used to go on almost every day in high school. We headed out the door and out to the park. It was chilly and I forgot my jacket.
Noticing this Jake said "here take my sweatshirt, I don’t need it" as he removed it and helped me put it on.
"It looks great on you" he said making me blush slightly. We made it over to our usual spot, our tree. I climbed up first and Jake followed close behind.
"Isn’t it beautiful? All the stars shining like little balls of light. It’s incredible" i said looking at the stars as I sat on my branch Jake presses up against me.
“Almost as beautiful as you" Jake says smiling at me.
"Oh stop. Come on let’s get real here" I said.
"It’s true" he replies making me feel all warm inside but I just shake it off. We just sit and star gaze for a while occasionally talking.
At about ten I start to get tried and I ask to go home. As we climb down the tree I think of how much I wish he was mine. We both are on the ground, I glance at him and he is already staring at me. Our eyes meet in that moment they seem so endless and eternal. Then...
~Jakes POV~
You ever get that feeling where you can't help but stare at someone? That’s how I felt with Cammy. She was so beautiful and when I gave her my jacket I couldn't help it but in that moment I could see her as my girl.
We had been at the park in our tree and she was laughing and just being herself. The girl I love. It was those few moments where I knew she had to be mine. Tonight, I couldn't wait anymore. I had waited for years. I was just hoping she felt the same.....whether she did or not I had to tell her how I felt about her.
It was around ten and she said she wanted to go home. So I climbed down the tree, she followed. I just stared at her. Then she glanced at me. I smiled down at her and…
