Lucy is 39 weeks pregnant
It didn't really matter anymore how many times Lucy tossed and turned around in bed, she wouldn't feel comfortable anyway. Everything felt sore and since she had been having braxton hicks on and off for the last few days, her and her body were exhausted. This night felt even worse than all the others, it was 2 a.m. and Lucy had been trying to fall asleep for 3,5 hours, and had had no luck doing so. She turned on her back and put her hands on her bump as she sighed. 'I might not sleep much more when you are out of there but at least I'll sleep comfortably again' she whispered to the baby and softly poked where he or she was kicking Lucy. It didn't take long for Lucy to turn around again and this time she ended up in Tim's arms, in which she eventually fell asleep.Lucy sat at the edge of the bed, trying to lift herself up, but she didn't succeed. 'Tim, can you help me get up please' she called out. It only took Tim seconds to get into the bedroom and help his fiancée up, before he gave her a kiss which Lucy returned with a big smile. Lucy waddled to the kitchen to get some breakfast for herself. 'You know, when you walk like that, you look like a penguin' Tim stated, and Lucy shot him a look. 'Shut up' she said to him. 'How late does your shift start?' Lucy asked him before she joined him at the island. '1 pm, are you sure though you want me to go in with all these braxton hicks you're having' Tim said, worry clear in his voice. 'Think I'm having one right now' Lucy said under her breath and Tim grabbed her hand so she could squeeze. 'This is exactly why I think I should stay home' Tim said, as Lucy was taking deep breaths in and out. Lucy breathed through the false contraction before she answered. 'No. These only last a minute and I have 3, maybe 4 of these a day so I can handle it' she said, very sternly. 'Yeah and what if they turn into actual contraction that don't happen just 4 times a day?' Tim said and put a strand of Lucy's hair behind her ear. 'Than you'll be first one I call' Lucy said, adamant on her opinion. 'Promise?' Tim asked her, with a stern tone. 'Promise' Lucy said and gave him a kiss.
It was 5 pm, and Lucy had been on her own for a couple of hours. She had washed the last few sets of baby clothes, and folded them away. She was cooking now, and for the last hour or 2 her back had started hurting and the Braxton hicks got more frequent and painful. While she grabbed something out of the fridge, there was a knock on the door. Lucy waddled over, and opened it. 'Hey Lucy' Angela said. 'Hey, uhm, come in' Lucy said, surprised by her visit. 'I was close by, so I just wanted to check on you' she said and scanned Lucy. 'Did Tim put you up to this?' she questioned Angela, who shook her head. 'No, he didn't. But maybe he should've cause I can sense you're not really comfortable' Angela said and walked over to Lucy. 'Angela, I'm fine, rea-' Lucy said, but got interrupted by a sharp pain in her abdomen. She tried to breathe it away, but it was no help. 'Those are not braxton hicks anymore Lucy' Angela stated, and rubbed her back. Lucy rested her hands on her head and swayed a little. 'Should I call Tim for you?' Angela asked, and Lucy answered with a nod.
'He Angela' Tim said, working behind his desk. 'Lucy is in labor' Angela said, wasting no time. Tim froze for a second when he heard his best friend say the words. 'Now?' he said, a little dumbfounded. 'Yeah now Tim' Angela said, and Tim heard Lucy chuckling a little in the background. 'I'm leaving now, can you stay with her, please?' he said hurriedly. 'Sure, do you want her for a second?' Angela asked. 'Yes, please' he said and seconds later heard Lucys voice through the phone. 'Are you okay?' he said as he walked down the hallways towards Greys office. 'Yeah, I am, don't worry okay? I just want you to come home safe' Lucy said softly. 'I know Luce, I am on my way right. I love you' Tim said. 'I love you too' Lucy said and hang up the phone. Tim ran through the station, into Greys office, who looked up surprised when the sergeant ran in. 'I need to leave, Lucy is having the baby' Tim quickly said, out of breath. 'Sure, don't waste any time. And Tim, wish her good luck' Wade said before Tim nodded and ran out.
Not even 10 minutes later he parked his car in the garage. Usually it takes 20 minutes, but he was not gonna waste any time. He grabbed his essential stuff out of the car and ran up stairs. He opened the door, and saw Lucy leaning on the kitchen island, with Angela still rubbing her back. He dropped his stuff and walked over to Lucy. 'Hey' he said softly, and grabbed her hand, and she immediately squeezed it with a force he had never felt before. 'She's in the middle of a contraction' Angela told him. 'We've been timing them, she's at 7 minutes in between, and a lasting of a minute and a half' she informed Tim. Angela waited for the contraction to end and looked at Lucy. 'Good luck Lucy, I know you can do this' she encouraged Lucy. 'Thank you' Lucy said with a small smile. 'Good luck to you too, and update me every now and then' Angela said to Tim before she let herself out.
