7. Beach Day Part One

" For our summer break, the school is going to send third-year students to the beach," Mr Kim, Eunchae's homeroom teacher announced.

The class broke into excited chatters.

"All right listen," Mr Kim continued and the class went silent again," Bring your essentials and don't forget to hydrate yourself. It's hot during the summer."

Eunchae feels slightly excited about this trip. At last, it's the summer break and she can rest far away from all her school duties. No exams, no assignments, no stress. Sounds like heaven for a high school student. Only this time, she can truly relax.

Two weeks have passed and they are all going to the beach. Only today that Eunchae knows that her class, 3-1, would be combined with another class for the beach retreat.

"Oh, they are here," Yunjin standing near the pole said.

"Which class is it?" Eunchae said nonchalantly while playing with her phone, that she needs to start clearing her storage space if she wants to take pictures for later.

"Oh, I don't think you will like this though."

"Huh?" Eunchae looked up at Yunjin to see her pointing at an individual.

"Oh great," Eunchae muttered under her breath.

Of course, that one person she is trying to escape from would be the one that is here. Now how is she going to enjoy her beach retreat?

Eunchae could see his slitted eyes staring at her under the sun. She would look away but she just can't seem to. He too does not look like he wants to look away anytime soon.

"Okay, guys we will get back here at 6 pm, have fun. Remember to always stick with your friends and never go anywhere alone," One of the teachers's voices snapped at Eunchae making her look away from him.

Less than a second, the students are already running towards the beach out of earshot.

"Eunchae let's go the rest of the class is there," Yunjin said pulling her arm and running towards the beach.

The atmosphere was filled with laughter made Eunchae feel so happy in a long time. Eunchae scooped up a bit of the seawater and threw it at Yunjin, making Yunjin shriek at the sudden attack. Eunchae couldn't help but let go of the giggle that had been bubbling up looking at her friend's actions. It was too funny.

Before she could realise it, a sudden splash of water dawned on her. Eunchae squints to prevent the salty sea water from entering her eyes. However, she is pretty sure she drank some of the seawater. Yunjin's laughter greets Eunchae's ears. She is pretty proud of what she did. But of course, Eunchae couldn't lose like that. She scoops a bigger amount of water and splashes straight at Yunjin.

Only this time, it is not Yunjin. It was a boy. It was her mood breaker. Niki. Eunchae's mouth couldn't help but drop slightly. Not what she intended. It was a huge amount of water. Slapped him across the face. But Eunchae couldn't help but feel a bit satisfied that it hit his face.

Yunjin went silent, just like she did. Waiting for Niki's reaction.

He wiped the water from his face slowly. Looking at Eunchae directly. Without warning, he splashed her back making Eunchae stumble backwards for a bit. Eunchae look up at him bewildered.

She proceeded to retaliate again. Without realising Eunchae surprisingly enjoyed his company for once.
