with out planning on it, i spent the whole weekend at paige's house. don't get any ideas! i mainly played fortnite with drew and amy jo attempted to teach us how to crochet but paige started crying about her hands being too big and how it made her fingers cramp. paige and i may have also cuddled a bit, but girls do that all the time so it's not really a big deal.

it is currently monday and im driving home from my meeting with the student council. we're planning prom and decided to start with a theme. they chose a black and white ball type theme? i wasn't really paying attention, i was just ready to go home.

i pull into my driveway, grabbing my backpack from the passenger seat. when i lock my car door i notice a car dangerously similar to my dads. but my dad isn't supposed to be home from his business trip until my graduation so it couldn't be him. i shrug it off and unlock the front door.

"hey mom!"

"hi honey, i'm in the kitchen!" she calls.

i drop my bag by the stairs and take my shoes off making my way to the kitchen. when i walk into the kitchen i am greeted to my mom hugging a man.

"mom?"

the man turns around and my eyes light up. it was my dad.

"daddy!" i scream, running in to his arms.

"hey princess." he says picking me up and spinning me around.

when he sets me down he places a small kiss on my forehead.

"what are you doing home so early?"

"ouch, did you not want to see me?" he says grabbing his heart.

"ofc course i did! i'm just shocked to see you home already."

he chuckled and shoved his hands into his coat pocket. he looked at me fondly in silence. i only smiled, happy to see my dad. i've always been a daddy's girl. he'd come to all my cheer competitions and i'd go fishing with him. we were like two peas in a pod when i was growing up. that all came to a hault when he became more of a workaholic and started taking more business trips and spending time in his study. he'd still come to my cheer competitions and we did all the stuff we would normally do together, but it wasn't the same.

"my baby girl is all grown up."

"not just yet, but i'd guess you could say that." my mom says.

she also seems happy to see my dad. my dad levels out my mom. he keeps her grounded and she's always the happiest when we're all together.

"no more standing, you two sit down. dinners almost ready." she says as she pulls two chairs from the island out.

i hadn't noticed that my mom was cooking when i came in and not only was she cooking, she was cooking my favorite. shrimp alfredo.

"so what do you have planned this evening? i was hoping to maybe catch up with you and spend some time together."

"i'm sorry daddy, i wish i could, but i have cheer practice and lots of homework. but im definitely up for it sometime this weekend." i smile.

"aww look at my two loves together." my mom coos as she places our plates in front of us.

"thank you." we say together.

we all make small talk as we dig into our food. i felt happy again. not that i was sad before but i do have to admit there was tension between my mom and i, but with my dad here all of that tension goes away.

i continue to eat, when i feel my phone buzz in my back pocket. it was paige. why is she calling me? i smile to myself as i watch her name float across my screen.
