Laying in my bed I suddenly had a feeling I was not alone. There was someone in my room with me. Silently, I opened my eyes. Glancing at my clock I saw it read six o'clock . Light filtered weakly through my curtains as the sun rise. I began to look around when suddenly a body dove unto my bed, literately almost scaring the pee out of me. What! It was the morning, I really had to pee.
I shrieked loudly, flinching away from whoever just leapt me. Looking down at the foot of my bed I saw my attacker. Robbie. He sat there giggling and giggling like my fear was the most hilarious freaking thing on the entire planet. Reaching to my bedside table, I grabbed my hearing aids and snapped them into place."Roberto Jacobs! What do you think your doing!" I exclaimed, throwing my hands in the air.
"Mamá . . . Ma . . Up. . . School." He gasped between fits of laughter. I narrowed my eyes at him dangerously. However, seeing him still cracking up over this caused me to smile. Oh heck, I couldn't stay mad at this kid!
"Robbie." I sighed. "It's really not that funny." He held his sides now rocking back and forth. Obviously I was wrong. Shaking my head I went to my closet. He stumbled along behind, his laughter began to fade as he calmed down. I dug through the hangers and racks of cloths, searching for something good. Glancing down I saw my cloths rustle on their hangers then a little curly head popped out.
"Boo!" He shrieked.
"Robbieeee." I groaned, fighting a smile.
I continued to search through my gigantic closet and every now and then Robbie would poke his head out in attempts to scare me. In which he succeeded multiple times. Finally picking a cute outfit, I ran to the bathroom to shower.
After I dried off I picked up my cloths. I pulled on my black lacy underwear and hooked my black bra that was equally as lacy. I then stepped into a pair of dark skinny jeans. Lastly I pulled on a lime green cropped tee. It was loose fitting with a wide neck so my pronounced collar bone and a bit if shoulders showed. It showed off my skin tone. Hope always said I had a beautiful tan, this always made me laugh. It wasn't a tan, it was my skin tone. My family IS Latino! I smiled as I thought of my best friend and cellmate. Gosh, I missed her.
Shaking my head to clear it, I continued to get ready. I applied a small amount if make-up, keeping it simple as usual. Just a coat of eye-liner and some mascara. That's all I typically needed. I quickly styled my hair, letting it fall in its typical curls. I took a small section of hair and did a simple head-band braid. Finishing up, I wrapped it over my head. I noticed as I was reaching up that my shirt, being so short, raised up to my belly button, revealing the top half of my tattoo. The other half disappeared beneath my jeans. I read it silently to my self and smiled. One other person knew I had it and I had left her behind in the hellhole. I sighed. Man, today was gonna be bad. I just couldn't get her out of my head.Heading back to my room, I tugged on those awesome combat boots and grabbed my book-bag before heading downstairs. Mom was already done eating and gathering her stuff to leave.
"Buenas días, Mija. Sleep well?" She asked.
"Yes. Mamá. And good morning to you too." I smiled at her. She accessed my outfit carefully and I worried she'd make me go change, due to the shortness of my shirt. Hey, in my defense it was suppose to be warm today, warmer that yesterday and plus I saw the girls at school wearing skimpier things than this the last few days. To my surprise she smiled.
"You look cute, mija. I just love your hair. It's so, so long." She complimented.
"Oh, thank you, Mamá." I let out a breathe, happy she approved. I was lucky, my mom was pretty cool.
"There's a bagel in the toaster for you, mi amor, and juice in the fridge."
"Okay." I nodded, getting out a glass.
