The rest of the day was a blur. I sat haunched low in my seat through all my classes, trying desperately to just disappear. I pulled the sweatshirt up around my face, surrounding myself in its smell. Something about it made ne feel strangely comforted. I effectively avoided Ryker all the rest of the day and a mischievous smile worked its way on my face. Okay so I was a little proud of myself for giving him a piece of my mind and then being able to elude him the entire day. However, as I made my way around the corner my smile fell. You know what they say, speak of the devil and the devil appears. Well there he was, leaning against his open locker and Stacy was hanging on him. Like I mean hanging worse than a hat in a hat rack. It's a wonder she didn't pull him all the way to the ground.
Angrily, I flung my locker open and it crashed into the one beside me. The metal clanged throughout the hallway, effectively turning all eyes on me. I ducked my head and busied myself with putting away my books. Glancing over I saw Ryker watching me intently. Stacy trailed her long fake nails up his chest and whispered something in his ear. I turned away, disgusted. Gross! I couldn't bare to watch any longer. She is such a freaking slu-
"Lexington!" My thoughts exploded as someone yelled, causing me to jump. I turned to see Lance and Ashton walking towards me. "Whad uppp? Mí Prima?" I looked at him questioningly. Since when could he speak any Spanish whatsoever? Granted, 'my cousin' wasn't the hardest thing to learn, but still.
"Qué pasa?" I questioned confusedly.
"Oooo I know this one! Uhh . . .
erm . . . it's . ." He trailed off trying to think.
"What's up?" Ashton offered quietly.
"Yea! That's it! What's up! I knew it!" Lance exclaimed. Ashton rolled his eyes at him.
"So, uhh . . what's with the sudden Spanish?" I asked quizzically.
"Well we decide to take a few classes and stuff. That way we could talk to ya like you know. Like ya do sometimes." Okay so that was confusing. I looked to Ashton for a better explanation.
"Lance wanted to take some classes to learn the basics, so he could make conversation with you." Ashton explained, using a tone of voice that made Lance sound stupid. I chuckled lightly.
"Lance. I speak English just as well." I told him, still smiling. He shuffled his feet slightly.
"I knowww. I just . . I don't know . ." He trailed off, leaving me waiting for a better explanation.
"He thinks that since your his cousin he should be speaking it with you, like the rest of your family." Ashton explained again, shaking his head.
"Hey! That ain't what I said!" Lance exclaimed.
"No. But we all know that's what you were thinking." Ashton answered. I laughed at their argument. Lance's cheeks flushed slightly.
"We'll I think that's sweet." I spoke up finally, making Lance smile sheepishly.
"Ashton's takin' it with me too." He mumbled quietly, still looking at his feet. "Oww." Ash elbowed him in the side.
"What!" I looked up at Ashton in shock. "Seriously?" Now it was his turn to look sheepish.
"I . . I . . just . ." He stuttered.
"We just wanted to be able to talk to you like you're use to talking." Lance interjected. He shrugged like it was no big deal. This made me laugh and they both blushed and looked at their feet at the same time.
"Aww guys! That's like the sweetest thing ever!" Both of them looked up, their eyes huge with shock and their cheeks turned a even deeper scarlet. I stepped forward and wrapped my arms around Ashton's torso and gave him a huge hug. After a couple seconds of shock he responded and hugged me back. Although he was so tall my head hardly came to his chest and he had to hunch slightly to hug me back. After a little while I let go and stepped toward Lance.
