Ryker
Okay so I'm going to be honest, I went home that night after our parents returned and I went strait to my laptop. Sitting upstairs in the privacy of my room, I opened the google translate page. Shamelessly, I googled every Spanish word I could remember she'd said that day. I even looked up the that lullaby she sang to her little sister.
''Oh, oh, oh, oh, sing and do not cry because singing cheers up, pretty little darling, our hearts." The computer screen read. The translation was sketchy but by putting the information together with what Lexington told me, I was able to make sense of it. So the song was daily simple, so why did it make her cry? There has to be a story behind it, heck there's a story behind everything Lexington does!
Gosh, what I wouldn't give to tell her. Tell her everything. She deserves to know the truth, the truth about me, the truth about her. It would totally and completely change her world. She is strong and a fighter, I think she could handle it. Yet, at the same time, there are moments when she seems so fragile and I'm afraid that kind of news might destroy her. Her life's already hard with her lack if hearing, not to even mention Stacy and her group of wanna be's making Lex's life a living hell. I wouldn't want to burden Lex's life any further, but at he same time it's not fair to keep a secret like that from her. Especially since it effects her very life. I mean imagine how she'd feel if someone else told her and she found out I knew all along. She'd hate my guts and lets face it, I just can't live with that. I-
"Honey?" My mom's soft voice cut through my thoughts. I shut my laptop cautiously and sat up as she walked into room.
"What's up, Mom?" I asked.
"We are going to the Jacobs on Friday night again, I just wanted to let you know." I scoffed loudly.
"What deal are you closing this time?" I bit out sarcastically.
"Honey, you know we only do this much business to take care of you, to take care of our family." She explained, a strain in her voice. "Besides, we are simply going over to have a meal with our friends, no deals this time." I snorted incredulously.
"Oh, I'm suree." I replied sarcastically.
"Ryker! Enough! Please." She added please more gently to the end.
"We are all going and that's that.""Whatever."
"Goodnight."
"Night." I mumbled as she walked out of my room, shutting the door behind her. I'd love to go and see Lex, that's not why I'm upset. I'd just rather not see her because of the business crap my parents do. I mean seriously, how stressful would it be to host a dinner that you know is for business and you must try to look and act all proper? Come on, no one wants to do that. Except my parents, they seem to just love it and honestly, I'm beginning to think her parents are the same. I feel so bad for her. I personally know how it feels to be constantly overlooked, sat on the back burner, or told to hush and let mommy and daddy talk. Some days I swear they forget they have a son. Some days I think it would save them more money if they just slept at the office instead of coming home for the night.
I really hope Lex's family isn't like that, I wouldn't wish that feeling of loneliness on anyone. Loneliness can do things to you. Loneliness can mess you up. Why do you think they put prisoners in solitary confinement? Being left alone constantly, it messes up your head. I just hope Lex isn't left like that.
Pulling my iPhone out of my pocket, I plugged in my headphones and settled down in my bed. If I didn't shut off my mind soon I would never get to sleep. Exhaustion soon overtook me and I fell into a dreamless sleep.
