"Uhh, where are we going?" No answer. "Ryker!" He kept his gaze glued to the road, hands clamping the wheel tightly. It was obvious he was upset, about what I had no idea because he was refusing to talk to me. What's going on right now, you may be wondering. Yeah well me too! We had been sitting on the pier, laughing and just enjoying each others company when Ryker's phone had gone off. Who had called him and what they wanted was a mystery to me, like I said. He refused to talk.
The car slowing down jerked me from my irritated thoughts and I hurriedly looked around. Instantly, I recognized where we were and my body automatically stiffened. The car turned off the road and into an all too familiar driveway in front of an all too familiar house. Where was I? Home. He had brought me home without telling me why or what was going on. A terrible sinking feeling came over me. What was going on?
My door was jerked open and Ryker stood there looking at me expectingly with his brow raised. I glared at him through narrowed eyes, jaw clenched. The brazen nerve of this man. I was not ready to face my mother, or that terrifying letter. I was not ready for everything to come out to Ryker. I was not in the least bit ready for any of this. Moments ago I was so happy with him at the pier, the two of us in our own little world. Now I wanted to slap him for dragging us back to reality so harshly.
"Come on, Lexington." He snapped irritably. Oh look, he can speak! I didn't move from my spot, I just glared at him harder.
"Why?" I gritted out, if this was a cartoon the smoke would be rolling out of my ears. He growled loudly and leaned over me. Had the situation not been so maddening, my heart would have sped up due to his closeness. However, I was extremely upset, and my heart did sped up, but not from nerves. From raw anger. He was unbuckling me! He was actually going to force me into the house! How dare h-
"Now." He pulled me from the vehicle, my feet slapping the ground as I slid from the seat. He slammed the door behind me and continued to drag me along the sidewalk. I didn't make the journey any easier on him. My heels dug in the whole way. Upon reaching the steps, he forcibly picked me up and carried me up the few steps. "Lexington, that is enough! Were are going in there whether you are ready or not!"
"No!" I attempted to step around him.
"Yes!" He stepped in front of me, cutting off my path.
"No!" I stepped to the right.
"Yes." He stepped to the right.
"No." I stepped to the left.
"Yes. That's final." He growled again, blocking my path of escape once again.
"Why are you doing this!"
"There are things you have to hear!"
"I don't want t-" The door swung open, cutting off my argument.
"Are you two coming in, or not?" Ryker's mother stood in the doorway, brow raised, looking between myself and her son.
"Yes, we are." Ryker spoke up, pushing me forward and through the doorway after his mother moved.
Reluctantly, I followed his mother into the kitchen where multiple people were seated. One of which struck an indescribable amount of fear into me.
Instantly, I spun on my heel to flee, but I was met with a solid wall of muscle. Ryker's hands gripped my waist firmly, but gently, spinning me back around and nudging me forward. My mother stood and rushed to me, wrapping me in her arms and rambling softly in spanish so that only I could understand. It will be okay. We are working this out. He will never hurt you again. It's so good to see you. Come sit. You must know what all is happening. Be strong.
