Kiara

As we arrived at Stonebridge College, I felt overwhelmed by its grandeur. The campus was even more beautiful than the website had depicted, with modern buildings and lush greenery that seemed to have been freshly watered. My mom stopped at the entrance, and I gazed out at students mingling and laughing, wearing Stonebridge gear. It felt welcoming, but I sensed my mom's unease.

"We're here," she said, her voice tinged with emotion.

"It looks beautiful, mom," I said, trying to reassure her.

But she avoided eye contact, and I knew something was bothering her. "What's wrong?" I asked, concern creeping into my voice.

She hesitated, then spoke, her eyes fixed on the steering wheel. "It's just that you're growing up so fast. You're 17, about to turn 18, and starting college. Time flies, Kiara."

I took her hand, trying to comfort her. "Mom, I'll still visit, and you can visit me. I'll be fine."

She smiled slightly, wiping away a tear. "You're right, sweetie."

As we said our goodbyes, Henry's gift caught my attention - a beautiful necklace that left me speechless. My mom reminded me to call her, and we shared a tender moment before she left.

As I struggled to carry my bags up the stairs, a friendly voice offered help. "Need a hand?"

I turned to see a boy with purple hair and glasses, wearing a plain hoodie and cargo pants. He introduced himself as Suki, and we walked together, carrying my bags.

Finally, we reached my dorm room, and I thanked him, breathless. Suki offered to show me around campus, and I accepted. As we entered my room, I met my roommate, Lexa, a vibrant redhead with a warm smile. We hugged, and I felt an instant connection.
