Kiara

I woke up to the sweet smell of vanilla drifting through my room,(it has been one week later) instantly putting a smile on my face. It was a familiar scent, one that always made me think of Blake. But as much as I loved it, I knew I had to be careful. My mom was pretty observant, and she'd definitely notice if my room suddenly smelled like Blake's perfume.

Just as I was trying to come up with an excuse, my mom popped her head in. "Hey, Kiara, is that a new perfume you're wearing?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

I tried to act casual. "Oh, yeah, Mom. It's just a new scent I picked up," I replied, hoping she'd buy it.

She gave me a skeptical look before shrugging it off and leaving the room. I breathed a sigh of relief, but my heart skipped a beat when I heard a rustling under my bed.

"Phew, that was close," Blake whispered, emerging with a playful grin.

I couldn't help but laugh at her antics, though I was also a bit nervous. "New scent, huh?" She teased, I gave her a gentle shove.

Blake stumbled backward and landed on my desk chair, she pulling me onto her lap in one swift motion. She flashed me a charming smile before leaning in for a quick kiss.

Pulling away, she looked at me with excitement. "So, pequeña reina, want to go out and do something fun?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

I hesitated, thinking about my mom and our plans for the day. "But what about my mom?" I replied, feeling a bit unsure.

Blake's grin widened as she leaned in closer. "You could pretend you're not feeling well," she suggested, her tone playful yet convincing.

Her idea sparked a sense of adventure in me, and I found myself nodding in agreement. "Okay, let's do it," I said with a newfound excitement.

Before I could second-guess myself, I leaned in for one more kiss, cherishing the moment before reluctantly pulling away. With a determined smile, I got up and began to get ready for our spontaneous outing, feeling grateful to have Blake by my side.

Feeling a knot form in my stomach, I slowly made my way downstairs, hoping to shake off the unease that had settled within me. But as I reached the bottom step, I froze, overhearing my parents' hushed conversation in the living room.

"...it's just not working anymore, Susan. We've been drifting apart for years," my stepdad's voice drifted to my ears, heavy with resignation.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I listened to their conversation unfold, the weight of their words crushing my heart. They were talking about getting a divorce after I graduated college.

Unable to bear it any longer, I turned on my heel and rushed back upstairs, the tears streaming down my cheeks. Blake was waiting for me, concern etched across her features as she took in my tear-stained face.

"Kiara, what's wrong?" she asked, reaching out to gently wipe away my tears.

I choked back a sob, struggling to find the words to explain the pain that was tearing me apart. "My parents... they're talking about... getting a divorce," I managed to whisper, my voice trembling with emotion.

Blake pulled me into a tight embrace, offering me the comfort and solace that I so desperately needed in that moment. "Kiara-" she began to say something but unable to find her words so she kept quiet.

After a few moments, Blake gently pulled away and took my hand, her eyes silently urging me to follow her. Without a word, we climbed down the ivy-covered trellis outside my window and made our way to her Aston Martin parked nearby.
