Kiara

I was still reeling from the uncertainty surrounding Blake when I received another unexpected blow. My aunt called to inform me that my uncle had been transferred to a different prison. I couldn't understand why he would be moved, and my mind raced with worst-case scenarios.

Without hesitation, I made my way to the new prison, my heart heavy with worry. As I entered the visitation room, I scanned the area until my eyes landed on my uncle. He smiled when he saw me, and his eyes crinkled at the corners. "Hey, kiddo!" he exclaimed, opening his arms for a hug.

But I couldn't muster up a smile. "Why did they move you?" I demanded, my voice shaking with emotion.

My uncle's expression turned serious. "One of the guards was being a bit too enthusiastic with his nightstick. I had to teach him a lesson."

I couldn't help but chuckle at his nonchalant attitude. "You got into a fight?"

He shrugged. "Just a little love tap. But enough about that. How are you doing, Kiara? You look like you've lost your last marble."

I sighed, feeling a mix of emotions. "Mom kicked me out," I said, trying to keep my voice steady.

My uncle's expression turned sympathetic. "Ah, that's just Susan being Susan. Always looking for reasons to be in people's business."

I nodded, feeling a sense of frustration. "She didn't like that I was dating Blake. She says Blake is bad news."

My uncle raised an eyebrow. "Blake, huh? That's the boy you're seeing?"

I corrected him, "Actually, Blake is a girl."

My uncle's eyes widened in surprise. "Oh, sorry kiddo! I didn't know that."

I smiled wryly. "Yeah, Mom wasn't happy about it."

My uncle smiled. "Well, if Blake makes you happy, that's all that matters. Don't let your mom's opinions get in the way of your happiness, kiddo."

I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards my uncle. "Thanks, Unc Jam. Just talking to you makes me feel better."

My uncle smiled back, his eyes warm with affection. "Anytime, Kiara. That's what family is for."

He chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eye. "You know, it's funny. Your mom, my sister, is a lawyer, and yet...here I am." He gestured to the prison surroundings, and I couldn't help but laugh. "I mean, you'd think she'd be able to get her own brother out of jail, right?"

I giggled, shaking my head. "I guess she's not that good of a lawyer, Unc Jam."

My uncle grinned. "Well, at least I'm consistent, right? Always keeping her on her toes."
