Silence. All you could hear was silence. I lay there on my back with a rock like mattress and a paper thin pillow. The silence was so deafening all I could hear was the sound of my own breathing, and felt my heart pumping the blood around my body. It had been 32 days since I had seen actual sunlight and have been so lonely, I'm surprised I have stayed sane. Every day it's the same routine. Same clothes, same hairstyle and the same tests. All they ever put me in is grey joggers and a grey top, which was like wearing a potato sack, in fact a potato sack would be more stylish. The only times I can leave my so-called 'room' which feels more like a prison cell, was to have supervised bathroom breaks, showers and more tests.
Everything I did was supervised by nurse connie. I feel trapped. Like the walls are slowly caving in each day. The only source of entertainment I have is a small rubber ball and a few books. The room I have has a giant glass window, practically a wall, with 3 other concrete walls. I'm living in a box.
I couldn't sleep. Especially knowing I have the next test tomorrow. It kept me awake. Anyone would've thought the silence helps me sleep. In fact it's quite the opposite. It feels too empty and lifeless. Nothing but a long, stretched corridor fading into darkness.
6 am crept in because the giant clock embedded on the wall started going off. It was practically a speaker. I opened my eyes, not remembering going to sleep, but I must have dozed off. I heard a very loud buzzing noise and some echoing footsteps trailing along the hall. It was nurse connie. She was a strange looking woman. I wouldn't call her ugly but I wouldn't call her pretty. Her booming footsteps were getting closer and closer. She approached the big glass window. "Up. now." she said in a deep and chilling voice. She was very broad, and had long legs. Her height was intimidating. She had long ginger hair that flowed down to her buttocks. The perfume she wore smelt bleach and flowers. She was so much you could taste it. "Did you not hear me girl? UP" she boomed. I slumped up and slid out of bed. She gave me the same grey clothes through the letterbox which could only be opened on the outside. I put my hair up in a low ponytail and said I was ready. The huge metal door creaked open and nurse connie escorted me, along with two other guards dressed in white. They took me to a big room. I caught a glimpse of the sign. ROOM 127- DO NOT ENTER WITHOUT PERMISSION. As I entered the room, the blinding white walls blocked out any traces of life, and it was squeaky clean. I looked down and I saw a bald man with a rounded belly, sitting in an oversized lab coat. He spun his chair around. "Ah you must be Piper" he spoke overly loud. "I'm Doctor Bosin. I'm sure you're aware of today's test?". I nodded. "Stand on the red x for me Piper". I turned and saw a giant red x perfectly marked on the shiny floor. "So today we are going to be testing your reactions with your abilities" he said cheerily as he rubbed his hands together as if he was going to dig into a meal. "Great," I muttered sarcastically. Nurse Connie grunted. Dr Bosin pushed a bright yellow button. I heard a noise but nothing happened. All of a sudden a brick came speeding directly to my head. I held my hand out mildly, spreading my fingers and whipped my arm to the left. The brick followed. I waited a good five minutes until a giant metal box dropped from directly above me. I held my arms up, with my elbows almost folded and stopped it in mid air. I launched it in the same direction as the brick. A torturing ten minutes passed before a glass table came launching from the right. I almost missed my chance to stop it, but I managed to freeze it in place directly next to me. I threw it back where it came from and it collided into the wall, shattering into pieces, falling onto the floor. The shards bounced as they crumbled on top of each other. "Impressive" complimented Doctor Bosin. Nurse Connie clapped in the corner. "These next few may be a bit challenging," he said with a big grin on his face. He can smile. He's not the one being used as a lab rat. I continued to wait for the next object. After a while I heard a clang come from behind. A big rusted car came hurling towards me. I turned as quickly as I could and managed to stop it in time. The gust from the halt blew threw my jet black hair.i slowly nudged it towards the side, feeling a little tired. " 2 more to go," Smiled Doctor Boswin. The next object that zoomed towards my face was a long, thick spiked chain. It was so heavy, even for my telekinesis. I managed to stop it and pushed it to the right. Last item. I can do this. I can- I was shocked and scared as I saw a huge wrecking ball flying at my face. It was too heavy. I couldn't stop it. I dived out of the way to prevent being crushed to death. "Too bad," the Doctor sighed. "Quitter" nurse Connie tutted. "I felt rage. How dare she call me a quitter. Let's launch a wrecking ball at her, and see how she handles it. Her big boobs would probably bounce it right back.
