PART FIVE- THE OTHERS

I have a weird feeling about today. I feel like it's gonna be different. But I hope it's a good different. I could be wrong, it could be the same routine and another failed project to kill or it could be something more. Nurse Connie and Tyler came down the hall through the big door. "Right kiddos, today we have something different planned for you. Get dressed and follow me. Our ugly outfits were given through the oversized letter box. Me and Parker changed and followed Connie and Tyler. They showed us down to a room. But this room was different. It was down a corridor I'd never been down before. Instead of the boring white, it was a vibrant blue. We reached the door down the end and went inside. This room was big. It had weapons, mats, knives and random objects. Connie and Tyler took us to the middle of the room. "Now we wait for the others to arrive," said nurse Connie loudly. Others?? Is this what I had been waiting for?? I was excited, however Parker seemed nervous. We waited a good 5 minutes until the door opened. Cordelia came through with the handcuffs on, and her nurse. The nurse was beautiful. She had flowing auburn locks and the most perfect symmetrical face. Why would a woman like her work here? I would expect her to take up modelling. Cordelia gave me a smile as she got closer. I smiled back. Her nurse smacked the back of her head. "Be professional, water girl". Her nurse continued to walk over to us. "Stand there" commanded Cordelia's nurse as she pointed next to me. I opened my mouth to say hi but she shushed me. "Don't speak. We don't require your voice. So don't use it until we say". This woman was a complete bitch! She made nurse Connie seem nice! A couple minutes later the door opened. A boy walked through. He had a short middle parting, and brown hair. His eyes were a pale blue, and he was quite tall. He continued to walk towards us with the same cuffs as Cordelia. He stood next to Parker and his doctor stood behind him. The next person to enter was another girl. Her hair was a vibrant red. It went down to her shoulders. She had hazel eyes and she was rather short. She continued to walk forward but wasn't wearing the handcuffs Cordelia or the other lad was. One last person came in. Another boy. He had short grey hair for a young age. He was probably the same height as Parker and his eyes were two different colours. One was almost grey and the other was blue. Cordelia's nurse turned around and stepped forward, facing us all. "Now you're all here, I'll begin. Today we want you to test out your gifts. We will rank out the strongest. Think of it as a competition. Just don't kill each other" she let out a laugh and walked to the side in her overly loud heels. We all looked at each other with confusion. Who was fighting who? Or are we having a free for all? For a while everyone was introducing themselves to each other. They were telling eachother their gifts and me and Parker joined in. The short red haired girl was called Ava. She could harness heat hotter than lava itself. Explains the hair I guess. The boy with two different coloured eyes was called Jeremy. He could conjure up storms. ANY type of storm he could create. The last lad with the middle parting wouldn't share his gift or anything about him. He was kinda rude. "Why won't you tell us your gift?" Asked Ava. "Because i don't want to" he replied in a very rude manner. This was a problem. How were we supposed to know what we were up against. "Tell me!" Yelled Ava. Parker stepped forward. "What you gonna do? Stare at me" laughed the boy. That's actually exactly what he did. Parker's eyes glowed and the lad became in a trance like state. "What's your name?" Asked Parker. "Shaun" the boy spoke on command. "What's your gift Shaun?" Parker interrogated. "I can turn invisible. It's a lot more interesting than you think" he replied. "Why don't you apologise to Ava" Parker insisted. Shaun walked up to Ava and apologised with his eyes still orange, like Parker's, they were still connected. That's when they returned back to normal and Shaun looked confused. "That's an invasion of privacy! Surely that's not allowed!" Shaun shouted in anger. Ava laughed and walked off. The bitchy nurse came up to us and sorted out who was against who. She obviously wanted a little heat first, and she got it. "First up! Ava and Jeremy" she called out . The rest of us sat aside and watched like it was a talent show. Ava and Jeremy walked into the big white square where the fighting takes place. First to come out of the square loses. Simple rules, difficult game. The whistle blew and they picked up what they needed. Ava picked up a throwing knife. Jeremy picked up a metallic spear and a metallic shield. Ava threw the knife at him and he blocked it with the shield. He launched the spear at her and she caught it. Throwing it out of the square. Jeremy ran up to Ava with the shield and tried to force her out of the square with the pushing of the shield. Ava put her hand on the shield and it began to steam up. Her red hair began to glow until it was literally on fire, yet it didn't burn. Her eyes went a glowing yellow and her hands began to melt the shield. Right down to a steaming mould of liquid. It was impressive. I felt a little threatened by her. Jeremy ran back and began to gesture his hands. A mini snow storm began to form around his hands and Grew. Bigger. Bigger. And bigger until it filled the roof of the square. It began to snow heavily and the floor began to freeze. He pushed it towards Ava and froze her solid. "Time to cool you down" he laughed. He walked up to her to push her frozen body out of the circle but the ice began to sizzle and crack. Then she burst out of the ice and her arms caught fire. She punched Jeremy in the face and knocked him straight onto the floor with a burn mark on his cheek. She picked him up, burning a hold in his shirt and threw him out the square. The bitchy nurse blew the whistle and announced Ava the winner. Jeremy sat back down with us and Ava sat aside where the winners sat.
