POV: Athena
Date: August 10th, 2026

At the front of Milpitas High, a second-year girl sat slumped in the shade of a tree, burying her face into the light emanating from her phone. Three dirty bikes screeched to a stop at the front of the school grazing the POOR GIRL TRYING TO MIND HER OWN BUSINESS with dirt.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry! Are you okay? Do you need me to get the nurse? Please don't cry! I'm so sorry!" said the girl on the poorly painted black bike. Her skin was a light chocolate brown, her hair was pure black and wavy with purple and blue highlights. The girl had golden brown eyes that reflected the sunlight and a pleasant face and slim build. The second year looked up blankly and gave a flat "I'm fine, thanks" Her skin was slightly tan with a square face and dark brown eyes with golden flecks and eyebags. Her hair was barely straight and had fading blond tips. "My name is Ashwini by the wa-" Unfortunately for her, she got cut off by the bell.
"What class do you have now?" she asked
"Why?"
"Look, I'm trying to be your friend. Take it or leave it."
The second year gave a blank look."Science."
"What did you say your name was?"
"I didn't."
Well, I have Science too. We'll figure it out there!" Ashwini smiles, proceeding to grab the hand of her newfound friend and drag her to their first class.
They reached Science right before the second bell rang, signaling that they had come just in time. They sat down at the edge. So now she was squished between Ashwini and the end. Eventually, the teacher required them to do an icebreaker.
"So what's your name?" Ashwini asked, turning to her.
"Uhm, Athena?" she uttered.
"Oh nice name," Ashwini smiled.
"Thank you..." Athena replied.
"Favorite color?"
"Blue,"
Ashwini gasped, "Oooh blue's pretty but personally I like purple more."
"Noted." Athena sighed.
At the end of the class, Ashwini ended up boring her to death even though she was her first friend there, and the teacher gave them homework, on the first day of school. Athena let out a long sigh.
When will this day be over?
