Slow fade

I woke up to the sun shunting through my windows. I grabbed my phone off the night stand to see I had a text from an unknown number.

" hey it's Aaron would you like to hang out today?"

" sure"

" ok I'll pick you up in 2 hours if that's ok?"

" yea I'll get ready now."

I put my phone down and headed to the bathroom to get ready. I turned the water on hot and stepped in. I did my normal routine until I was finished.

I got out and dried off. I picked out some black cargo pants and a white top. I threw on some white shoes. I sat down and did my hair and makeup as well.

Once I was satisfied with how I looked I headed to the kitchen to get something to eat. I saw everyone was already down there still half awake.

" why are you so dressed up?" Ansley asked me.

" I'm going out with that guy from the bar last night." Ansley gave me a high five. I looked at the table to see everyone was happy for me except Tom. He looked upset but he had someone why couldn't I?

I sat down and ate my cereal in my own little world. I heard a knock on the door and ran to open it.

" hi. I brought you flowers"

" oh thank you Aaron that was so kind of you." I waved everyone off in the kitchen.

Tom pov:
It hurt to see her going on a date with someone else but there was nothing I could do to prevent it.

Presley pov:
He drove such a nice cad but it was no where as nice as toms. I tried to push the thought of him away but I couldn't help it.

" we are here." I looked outside of the car window to see we were at a little open area of land like a park kind of but without the playground. If that makes any sense.

He pulled a blanket out of his car and a basket with food. I love picnics. We walked to an open piece of grass and set everything up. " I hope you like picnics"

" they're my favorite!" I've never had a guy go out of his way to do something like this for me. I sat down in the blanket a bit nervous since this our first time together.

" I'm glad you agreed to coming."

" me too."

He pulled out some strawberries and grapes. He held the grapes from the vines and fed them to me which made me laugh. " so tell me about yourself Presley I didn't really get to know you last night."

" we'll my name is Presley I'm 19 and I live with two of my best friends Tom and bill. There's not much to really say about me." I could tell by the face he made that he didn't like me living with two guys which I get But he doesn't know our relationship.

" we'll my name is Aaron I'm 21. I grew up In America but moved here two years ago. I'm in college studying to be a writer and that's about it."

" oh I love to write I don't want to do it as a job more of a fun hobby."

" what's you're favorite genre to read?"

" I like thrillers. Romantic books are to predictable."

" yea I get that."

We sat there and enjoyed each other's company and getting to know each other. I really liked Aaron he seemed really nice.

I looked at the pond to see a duck with her babies behind her. " you like ducks?"

" I love all animals. I wish I could adopt all dogs that had a hard life."

" that's sweet of you."

I didn't even realize how long we had been here until I looked at my phone. I had work in the morning and I couldn't be late since I had missed so much work.

" hey I have work in the morning is it ok if you take me home?"

" of course. Hey I liked spending time with you I'd like to do this again if you'd like to."

" I'd love that."

We packed up the basket and the blanket and headed towards the car. We listened to some music on the way home and just enjoyed the music.

When we pulled up to the house he got out and walked me towards the door. " I had a good time."

"Me too." He leaned in slowly and our lips met. It was a simple and quick kiss but I was content with it.

Tom pov:
I had a bad feeling about this guy and I'm not sure why. Something about him felt familiar but I really couldn't figure it out. I sat in the living room waiting for Presley to come home.

" I'm home."

" how was it?" Bill asked coming into the living room.

" it was really good we had a picnic at the park."

" that sounds so cute."

" yea it was."

I was getting fed up with hearing about how good of a time she had with him. " I have a bad feeling about him Presley."

" Tom I'm fine if anything happens I'll let you know."

" you promise?"

" yes I'm fine." She petted my head as if I was a small child. " I have work early so I'm going to get ready for bed.

When she left I turned to bill. " bill something about that guy seems off."

" Tom I know you like Presley but you can't be like this. If he makes her happy let him. I've never seen her this happy let her."

" how do you know I like her?"

" I see the way you look at her when she isn't looking. You always bring her up too when she's not here."

" yea I guess you're right I just wish she didn't have to find someone else."

" if it's meant to be it will happen when it's suppose to."

" yea I just hate waiting."

" trust me everyone knows."

I smacked bill on the back of the head and headed upstairs to my room. He's right I need to let her be happy. It hurts seeing her being happy with someone that isn't me but if she's happy then so am I. Well I'll try to be happy for her at least.
