"Martha. I can explain," Elise told her.

"I sure as hell hope so."

"The Doctor...he's my father."

"He doesn't look old enough."

"Well, technically he's my adoptive father."

"But..."

"It's complicated and we don't really have time right now."

"Right."

"Please. Don't...don't tell him. Promise me."

"I...I promise."

Martha knelt next to the Doctor. "We're gonna do CPR."

Elise nodded. Both her and Martha put their hands on his chest and started CPR as Martha counted.

"One, two, three, four, five. One, two, three, four, five. One, two, three, four, five. One, two, three, four, five."

In between she gave him mouth-to-mouth. She took one more deep breath and breathed into the Doctor's mouth.

He jolted awake and Martha collapsed.

"The scanner. She did something," Martha told him.

The Doctor crawled over to the scanner. "Elle! Screwdriver!"

Elise tossed him her screwdriver and he used it to stop the machine. He picked up Martha and Elise followed him through the corridors.

They walked up to a window.

"Come on, come on, come on, come on, please. Come on, Judoon, reverse it," the Doctor chanted.

It started to rain. The H2O scoop was reversing.

"It's raining, Martha. It's raining on the moon."

There was a crack of thunder and a big flash. The hospital was back on the ground.

The Doctor laid Martha on a bed and they made their way back to the TARDIS.

Elise suddenly missed her big armchair. She wanted nothing more than to curl up under a blanket while her father fiddled with something at his desk.

"Do you like her?" the Doctor asked.

"Huh?" Elise asked.

"I said, do you like her?"

"Who? Martha?"

"Yeah. I thought...maybe...we'd invite her to join us."

"Why are you asking me?"

"I just thought...since the TARDIS is your home and all. I don't want her around if you don't like her."

Elise thought it was touching how he wanted her opinion before he chose her as his, well...their, companion. She could hear her father's voice in her head. I never know why, I only know who.

Elise smiled. "I do. She's very smart and good at thinking on her feet."

"Good." The Doctor walked over to the console and put the TARDIS in flight.

They landed and exited the TARDIS.

He had parked her in an alley. "I'll be right back," he said.

Elise stood next to the TARDIS.

Soon enough, the Doctor returned with Martha following.

"I went to the moon today," Martha said.

"A bit more peaceful than down here."

"You never even told me who you are."

"The Doctor."

"What sort of species? It's not every day I get to ask that."

"I'm a Time Lord."

"Right! Not pompous at all, then."

"I just thought since you saved my life and I've got a brand-new sonic screwdriver which needs road testing, you might fancy a trip."

"What, into space?"

"Well..."

"But I can't. I've got exams. I've got things to do. I have to go into town first thing and pay the rent, I've got my family going mad."

"If it helps, I can travel in time as well."

"Get out of here."

"I can."

"Come on now, that's going too far."

"I'll prove it." The Doctor disappeared into the TARDIS and put it in flight. He returned a second later without his tie on. "Told you."

"No...but...that was this morning. Did you...? Oh, my God. You can travel in time. But hold on. If you could see me this morning, why didn't you tell me not to go in to work?"

"Crossing into established events is strictly forbidden. Except for cheap tricks."

"And that's your spaceship?" Martha ran her hand over it.

"It's called the TARDIS. Time and Relative Dimension in Space."

"Your spaceship's made of wood. There's not much room. We'd be a bit intimate."

"Take a look." The Doctor opened the door and they went inside.

"No, no, no," Martha said. She ran out of the TARDIS. "But it's just a box. But it's huge." She ran back inside. "How does it do that? It's wood. It's like a box with that room just rammed in. It's bigger on the inside."

"Is it? I hadn't noticed," the Doctor said sarcastically. He shut the door and ran to the console. "Right then, let's get going."

"But is there a crew, like a navigator and stuff? Where is everyone?" Martha asked.

"Just us."

"All on your own?"

"Well, sometimes we have guests. I mean some friends, traveling alongside. I had...it was recently...a friend of mine." The Doctor looked at Elise's tattoo, like he did every time he thought of Rose.

Elise rubbed his arm in encouragement.

"Rose, her name was. Rose. And we were together. Anyway."

"Where is she now?"

"With her family. Happy. She's fine. She's...Not that you're replacing her!"

"Never said I was."

"Just one trip to say thanks. You get one trip, then back home. I'd rather be on my own. Well, with Elle."

"You're the one that kissed me."

"That was a genetic transfer."

"And if you will wear a tight suit..."

Elise gagged.

"Now, don't!" the Doctor told Martha.

"And then travel all the way across the universe just to ask me on a date."

"Stop it."

"For the record? I'm not remotely interested. I only go for humans."

"Good. Well, then." The Doctor danced around the console. "Close down the gravitic anomalizer, fire up the helmic regulator. And finally, the hand brake. Ready?"

"No."

"Off we go."

The TARDIS took off with a jolt. She shook and swayed as they flew.

"Blimey, it's a bit bumpy," Martha said.

"That's because he can't drive her!" Elise yelled.

"Oi! Hush you!" the Doctor snapped as Elise giggled, "Welcome aboard, Miss Jones."

"It's my pleasure, Mister Smith."
