ANYA TOSSED AND TURNED AS SLEEP EVADED HER GRASP. She kicked her blanket off of her, changed sides, shifted her pillow, pulled her sheets back on, but still, she was restless.
The Jedi huffed as she pounded her fist against the mattress. No nightmares invaded her mind, no ghosts haunted her nor whispered in her ears. In a chance of just complete bad luck, Anya got bit by the insomnia bug that night.
Anya sat up and rubbed her face. It was no good to just lie there and stare at the ceiling in discomfort. She figured she might as well do something with the new time she acquired.
Beskar raised his head, sleepily yawning as he squinted up at Anya. He tucked his paws under himself, about to stand up before Anya stopped him.
"You sleep, Beskar. I will be fine. I am just going to get some food." Beskar woofed huskily in reply before dipping his head down and closing his eyes.
Anya changed her robes, putting on her billowy white pair instead of her sleep clothes. She fixed her hair as she walked down the deserted hallways of the cruiser. It was usually quiet at this time of the day, the only ones up were the janitorial droids and the night shift.
Anya took a breath, letting herself enjoy the silence while it lasted. She was always a person who preferred more peaceful settings over loud and boisterous environments.
A nagging thought that tugged on her mind got louder in the silence despite her trying to shoo it away. It was a thought that had been bothering her ever since she woke up on the medical station a few rotations ago.
How was Fenik alive?
Anya was so sure that she had killed him. She felt his neck snap, she saw his body. She could sense his life energy no longer attached to his corpse. Anya could have been mistaken from the asphyxiation and the lack of oxygen in her brain, but she wasn't too sure that was the case.
Fenik was alive, she saw it with her own eyes. Anya deliberately sought the clone out and followed him around for a whole day. She threw multiple things at him to make sure he was real. Fenik was very confused, but he was alive.Anya didn't try to dwell on the event that much though. Whatever did happen, Anya could not figure out the how to the whole ordeal. She was completely confused which only made her upset. Anya figured the next course of action was to talk to someone wiser than her such as Master Plo or Master Yoda. Surely they would know what to do with...whatever it is that she could do. Anya simply had to be patient and wait until they got back to Coruscant. There was nothing she could do in the meantime.
Anya walked into the cafeteria, figuring a late night snack was the way to go. She grabbed a piece of fruit from the food station along with a knife and looked around. The hall was entirely deserted, except for one lone table where a clone was hunched over a datapad.
Anya made her way over to the clone, taking a bite of her fruit as she did so. He was so focused on his work that he didn't even notice her come in, let alone approach him.
"Hey," Anya said as she slid in across from him. "Do you mind if I join you?"
"Not at all." Rex smiled, looking up from his datapad. He typed a few more things in before setting it off to the side and turning to the Jedi. "Are you having trouble sleeping?"
"Sort of. I am fine, I just have a case of insomnia is all." Anya told him as she cut into her fruit. "How about you?"
"I've got some reports to finish up before I sleep." Rex told her, motioning towards his datapad.
"Those reports will still be there in the morning, Rex." Anya told him. "You should rest. I would not want my favorite captain passing out on me."
Rex smiled as Anya passed him a piece of her fruit, a slice that she specifically cut for him. "Thanks, but I'm not that tired."
