ANYA GLANCED OVER AT OBI-WAN FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME. She opened her mouth to speak, but closed it soon after. Their entire ride had been like this. Anya being on the verge of words, but never quite getting any out. Obi-Wan noticed, but didn't push her to explain what was on her mind if she wasn't ready to talk. He was just glad that she was too distracted to pick up on the slight shake in his hands as they got closer to Mandalore.Anya absolutely noticed Obi-Wan's nervousness but she was kind of occupied with her own anxiety at the moment. She was trying to think up a way to ask him about love without giving him any indication that she was asking for herself. Obi-Wan was known as a brilliant Jedi, surely he would know what to do. But Anya feared he was too smart and figure out not only the why behind her questions but the who. In the span of the ride from Coruscant to Mandalore, Anya still didn't come up with any solutions.
After the saboteur incident a few rotations ago, the Jedi Council decided to confront the Mandalorian government on the neutrality that they claimed to hold during the war. The rumors about how Mandalore was secretly building an army for the Separatists definitely pushed this decision.
Despite Obi-Wan's anxiety about going to Mandalore, Anya was ecstatic. There, she could finally be with someone who she trusted wholeheartedly to hold a neutral opinion on her problems while keeping them secret. A friend whose wise words Anya needed now more than ever.
Anya and Obi-Wan walked onto the shuttle docking platform side by side. A couple locals and other visitors milled around them, not paying them much mind. However, a man in formal armor had his eyes trained on the duo since they landed.
Obi-Wan approached the man who Anya realized was a royal guard. "The Duchess awaits you, General Kenobi and Commander Faeye." The guard spoke to them, motioning towards a nearby speeder.
"Far be it from us to keep the Duchess waiting." Obi-Wan said as they hopped aboard the speeder. A gate opened up for them and soon Anya found herself being driven through a city of glass, metal, and stone.
"Wow," Anya breathed out in mesmerization as sunlight glinted off of the patterned windows.
"The city has changed since I was last here." Obi-Wan said under his breath, arching his own head like Anya towards the wonder of the city.
"You have been to Mandalore before, Obi-Wan?" Anya asked. She turned towards her mentor while raising a brow at the new information.
Obi-Wan sighed, his gaze falling as his mind was whisked away by memories of the distant past. "Many years ago." He answered with a type of fondness yet regretfulness in his tone that touched Anya's curiosity.
The guard drove them to a beautiful palace that had Anya tripping multiple times on the way in since she was more focused on its construction than the stairs in front of her. The guard then led them into the palace whose interior was even more amazing on the inside. Even amongst the stone and glass walls, plants aligned the hallway in a warm welcome.
