season one, episode five.

TW: not-so-explicit sexual themes at the end of the chapter.

"I wish I could hold a heart," George broke the silence between the interns in the gallery of the OR, observing what was happening down there. Burke was operating on a mid-age-woman, and it was an open heart surgery, which was really cool, by the way.

Out of all the interns, the one who got to scrub in was Meredith, as always.
Rikki felt bad to even think about it, because she knew it wasn't true, but seeing her friend get to be part of every surgery attendings did, made her question to herself if she wasn't privileged by her connection to Ellis Grey.

And, if it really was the case, would it affect her in any way if the hospital knew about her connection to Adam Warner? Not that she ever thought of telling others, but she was curious about what results it would bring to her, if the others knew about it.

Would it give her good or bad results? He was a renowned doctor all over the Country, and many people would die to meet him in person. Or, at least, they would have had, because since he went to prison the second time, with the accusation of attempted murder, almost everyone stopped seeing him as a role model.

"A monkey could hold a heart." Replied Cristina, taking a bite from the apple she was eating. None of them dared take their eyes off the surgery, and Rikki couldn't blame them, since she was doing the same.

"You're mad Burke didn't ask you." She just said, writing down in a small notebook what she saw of the surgery, but without taking her eyes off of it. That meant she would probably not be able to read what she wrote, due to her writing being unreadable.

"Oh, shut up," Cristina started saying, scoffing at her. "You were the one drooling on the patient's chart before Burke took it from your hands to give it to Meredith." George laughed, but as soon as he noticed the odd look Rikki gave him, he put a spoonful of the yoghurt he was eating inside his mouth, so that he could cover the laugh.

"I wasn't drooling." She murmured, pouting without even realising it. She was indeed jealous of her friend, because who knew how she was always given the best opportunities, while the others seemed to be a step behind her.

"Yeah, and George's Obama." Cristina joked, making the brunette turn at her with a questioning look. "How did you find out?" He asked. At that, Cristina took her eyes off of the surgery for the first time and looked at him in disbelief, but with some sort of grin in her face that she was trying hard to cover.

Rikki, instead, didn't even try to hide it, and bursted out laughing. She put a hand against her mouth to cover the loud sound it would've come out if she didn't do so. She was about to say something, but got interrupted by Izzie coming in.
