"[Name]... [Name] sweetie," a gentle, warm voice called out to you, and slowly, your vision, which was once surrounded by darkness, became filled with light as you opened your eyes. Hovering above you was a woman wearing a soft expression as she looked down at you. "I made you some porridge. Come on, sit up so you can eat it."
Groaning slightly, you let the woman help you sit up, wincing slightly as you struggled to do so. It kind of felt like you had just been hit by a train or something...
Wait a minute.
'Where am I?!'
Almost immediately, your brain was hit with a million thoughts, everything ranging from memories that most definitely did not belong to you to loads of information that you were too loopy to process properly. The feeling of being hit by a train spread to the rest of your body, infecting your brain in the form of a pounding headache and causing you to clutch your head instinctively as if it might somehow ease the pain.
The woman quickly set the bowl of porridge down, rushing to put a comforting hand on your back and gingerly rub circles while holding a small cup of water out for you to drink. Your brain was fuzzy, oh so fuzzy. You could barely even comprehend what was happening at that moment. The jumbled thoughts that brought upon that splitting headache had yet to clear up, and all you could do was take the cup of water—almost mindlessly—and drink.
Once you seemed to have gotten a bit better (you had not), the woman sent you a relieved smile, picking back up the bowl of porridge that was still warm and grabbing a spoonful, blowing lightly on it before holding it up to your lips. Though you still had no idea what was going on, you figured it was best to comply, especially when seeing the sweet look on the woman's aged face.
As the almost flavorless porridge entered your mouth, a sense of warmth filled your being, not just from the warmth of the food. The woman, who continued to feed you patiently, gave off a kind aura that made you feel safe, despite your brain being in panic mode.
Once the bowl had been emptied, the woman leaned back, still at your side. "Do you want some more?" She asked, her melodic voice putting you at ease as you relaxed your muscles. But after eating, you felt full, so you shook your head, to which she nodded before pressing the back of her hand against your forehead. "Hmm, you're still a little warm..." With a small frown, she placed her hand on your shoulder, carefully pushing you to lay back down before pulling a blanket over you and straightening it out a bit. "You should go back to sleep and get some more rest. I'll be back in a bit to check up on you again after I clean up, okay?"
Silently, you nodded, watching as she picked up the now empty bowl of porridge and the cup of water she had given you earlier and left the room. Now that you were alone, your thoughts seemed to straighten themselves out, giving you a chance to make sense of what was happening.
