Chapter 11

River of emotions

Suddenly the hounds form began to change. From its head down to its paws it began to disintegrate into sand. It let out a fierce howl as its body turned into simple grains of sand.

Within seconds the hound was nothing more than a pile of sand on the carpet. Lily had to blink a couple of times to make sure what she saw was actually real.

Lily wanted to walk over to the sand pile and touch it just to make sure it really was dead but she dared not too in fear that somehow it may rise out of the sands.

There was another thud sound from the balcony outside. Lily tensed up, had another hound turned up to finish up the job that the other had failed at? Lily worried desperately.

At first Lily couldn’t see anything more than a dark shadowy figure in the distance. But it came closer its long wings out stretched and long black robe flowing gracefully.

Lily sighed with relief when she realised it was Abaddon for once in her life she was actually glad to see him.  Abaddon on the other hand wore the same solemn expression as usual.

Abaddon took a step forward his red demonic coloured eyes keeping transfixed upon Lily.

“Why… why didn’t the hound kill me?” Lily stuttered.

“I gave it no direct ordered to kill you, therefore it disobeyed my command and was disposed of for its defiance” Abaddon answered keeping his head low as if thinking hard about something.

“So, it was sent back to hell then?” Lily asked.

“No. it was torn apart from this realm to somewhere far worse than hell.”

There were worse places than hell? All this time Lily had believe hell was one of the worst possibly place you could end up and now she was finding out there was worse places. It was all too much for her mind to handle.

“Why didn’t you let it kill me?” Lily questioned.

Abaddon didn’t respond, instead he just reminded in the same thinking pose as he was before.

Lily cleared her throat loudly before asking again.

“Why didn’t you let it kill me…” Lily trailed on.

“Why are you so ungrateful? Every other damned human like you would be joyous that they had a chance to live longer. Your kind would kill one another for survival and in fact you have many times!” Abaddon let out a small growl escape from his lips before he spoke again. “And yet here you are wondering why you’re so special to get to live, what is wrong with you? Why do you refuse to act like the rest of your selfish kind!”

Abaddon raised his head to look at Lily, his facial expression had changed from before it held a look of almost remorse Lily thought.

Lily felt the need to break down and cry again but fought back the tears she didn’t want to show too much weakness in front of Abaddon. She so badly wanted to prove all he knew about her race was wrong, she wanted to change his views. She wanted him to respect her kind and so she could learn to respect his… whatever race or creature he truly was.

“You call me selfish. Look at yourself” Lily took another deep breath. Her life was on the line for every word she spoke. “You judge a whole race on the mistakes of a mere minority that some of us have made. So many people will never know what its like to live. To see the sun, smell the plants and feel the rain.”
