"Luffy you can't hide forever." Naomi sat down next to the cupboard the boy was locked in.
When the mayor told the kids that Garp was on the way— Luffy booked it. He hasn't seen the man since his birthday. Even then it was very awkward.
Garp never brought the pirate topic back up. But you can tell he was still conflicted about it. And he probably did have good reasons but he lacked communication skills. On the other hand, Shanks had told Naomi she couldn't meddle too much because it's a family thing. But she saw Luffy as family, so didn't that make it her issue too?
"I'm not hiding! I'm uh looking for my contact!" He responded to the girl. She snorted at his terrible excuse. She looked at Esme and nodded.
Understanding the assignment, Esme changed her color to a pitch black color. She squeezed into the cabinets key hole. Because you know, she's an octopus. And they can fit in a hole as small as two centimeters. #NoBones
Esme wiggled her way in. Luffy was startled to see her in there. She blinked at him. (--_--)Lifting a tentacle, she pulled a latch to unlock the doors from the inside. The door creaked up slowly to reveal Naomi giving him a mocking look.
"Hey girl heyyyy......" He smiled at her awkwardly.
"Contacts? Really? You couldn't come up with a better excuse?" She shook her head, disappointed. She grabbed his hand and yanked him out the hiding spot. Well she tried to, he still refused so his arm started stretching.
"Nooooo! You can't make me!" He yelled stubbornly. He wouldn't even go if she offered him a whole buffet. Yes he would.
Esme shook her head. Using her tentacles, she tickled the boys sides. He bust out laughing. Losing his focus he went flying towards the girl. She wrapped her arms around him and took off towards the docks.
Luffy thrashed around in her hold. The boy was like a wild animal. He even tried to bite her. Esme intervened of course. Thumping him in the forehead. He yelped as the hit stung.
"Old Man! Welcome back!" Naomi yelled when she spotted the Marine Admiral. He looked up with a playfully annoyed face. He held his arms open for the two kids with big smile.
"Little Merimad! Luffy! You kids look well. Have you been practicing that Marine chant?" He hugged the two kids. One was more inclined than the other.
"I'm not a Mermaid! And no, why would we say that stinky chant?" She mean mugged the grandfather. He laughed at her feisty attitude.
"Luffy...." He looked at his grandson. He had heard what happened to Shanks arm. It was part of the reason he rushed back. They just happened to miss each other by a few hours.
"Yes Grandpa?" He looked at the man wearily. Grap placed both kids on the ground and kneeled. He wrapped his arms around the boy in a tight hug.
