Leah Parker
My knuckles start against the door in a nostalgic rhythm that I always used to share in the family. I hear the familiar squeak of shoes and the disturbing creak of the door as it opens; my mom.
I smile widely and she wraps her arms around my shoulders, pulling me into her warm embrace as she rests her head on my shoulder, "Leah, baby, you did not tell us you were coming today."
"I thought I'd give you a bit of a surprise," I smile as she pulls away from the hug and lets me into the house. My shoes click against the hardwood floor, my curiosity piquing as I speak, "Is Scarlett home or is she at-"
My question is cut off when I hear the joyful voice of my younger sister, "Oi, I'm right here!" She grins, hitting me playfully on the shoulder and I give her a mocking pout.
I walk into the kitchen, following the footsteps of my mom and walking through the mahogany of the door. My dad stands near the kitchen counter, instantly freezing and slowly turning around to face us.
He shoots his eyebrows up and down at me, and I chuckle realizing he made a spillage. My mom's face twists into a scowl as she lightly slaps my dad's arm, scolding him for the mess.
I laugh at the scene, turning around when Scarlett taps my back. She holds my guitar, maroon with black accents, and a card. Oh, a licence.
"You absolute idiot!" She snaps at me, showing me the licence. "Just because you're a retired officer, does not mean you can leave this gun licence everywhere. What if someone finds your gun but not your licence? You-"
"Calm down, Scarls." I laugh, putting my hands on her shoulders, my thumb skimming over the star tattoo on her collarbone, "Chief Kent would get me out of a petty little fine."
"Okay..but what would he say?" She asks in a How about that? Tone, putting her hands on her hips.
"Kent would laugh at me." I deadpan, frowning. She laughs, shaking her head.
"What about your guitar?" Scarlett asks, not letting down.
"Well, I don't play anymore. Plus, all the movie songs I've played for have died down. Barely get any money." I tell Scarlett as she frowns slightly.

Pursing of the lips.
A common sign of disapproval.
I genuinely wonder why Cora disapproves of me so much.
She's probably a jealous bitch.
I sit next to Lilly on the stadium stairs, watching as Max rants about how he won the race and not Nathan. Meanwhile, Myles is laughing at the scene.
Mya and Cora sit a bit of a distance from us on the chairs, seemingly gossiping and watching the scene.
"Do they always quarrel like that?" I laugh slightly, turning my head to look at Lilly whilst leaning forward and resting my arms on my knees.
