ACT TWO; SCENE FOUR —
THE BALL PART 2

THE NIGHT HAD RAN smoothly so far, fingers crossed it will stay that way. They all appeared to be having a good time and as far as Dolores was aware, so were the invited guests. She'd only managed to converse with a small range of them because Edmund had been too busy occupying her with himself, making sure she remains by his side at all times. She honestly couldn't understand the proper reason as to why he was doing this though. After all, it wasn't as if anyone here would harm her in any way nor attempt to do anything bad.

Dolores hadn't had the chance to fully meet anyone yet so she was sort of looking forward to that. She also hadn't found the opportunity to speak with Peter or Lucy as much. Luckily, her and Susan had both spoken to one another briefly about how the other's night was going — each one resulting in a positive response. And as you know, Dolores had most definitely taken the chance to talk with Edmund, since he is the one she found herself being near the entire evening, whether she wanted to or not.

"Edmund can we please go and make conversation with the other guests, I'm running out of things to talk to you about." Dolores groaned, slumping back in her chair as if to be feeling bored. To which you'll find she was. "Please, please, please."

Edmund turned to look at her whilst letting out a small chuckle at how she was acting. "I don't see the need to." He replied. "But I suppose we can, after all you're free to do whatever you like. I'm surprised you've actually chose to stay this close to my side the entire night."

She turned to look at him with raised eyebrows. "Chose? Edmund, you practically forced me to stay beside you. But I guess I do not mind that."

He started at her with a satisfied grin before standing up and offering his hand. Dolores willingly placed her palm into his and getting up out of her chair whilst doing so. "How about her? She seems nice." She said, pointing at one of the younger females discreetly in hopes to not get caught. Plus, it was rude to point so she wouldn't exactly want to make a scene at her own event.

"If that's who you want to speak to, then you can. Come on." Edmund replied, smiling as he did so, whilst she pulled both herself and him over to the girl excitedly.

Once they had took a stop, directly in front of the young woman, she turned around to face the two with an open smile signalising she was willing to speak to them both. "Hello, Miss." Dolores voiced, lifting her left hand up slightly to give her a little wave.

"Ah, Dolores. It's a pleasure to meet you at last. As well as you, Edmund." She chuckled, greeting the pair with a small hand shake. "My name is Rosaline."

Both Dolores and Edmund nodded once they had exchanged welcoming's, "The pleasure is all ours." Dolores exclaimed, Edmund silently agreeing. "How are you enjoying the ball? I do hope it's up to your standards. We've spent so much time and effort on trying to perfect it so I truly wish you're happy with it."

"Oh, darling. It's most definitely up to my standards and more. I've never been to a ball such like this one, it's tremendous." Rosaline responded, exaggerating the event a little bit but Dolores couldn't say she was complaining. Though, one thing she could admit was she found it awfully funny how posh this girl was, as well as the accent she seemed to have — but who was she to judge?

"We're pleased to hear that." She smiled, twisting her body to be met with Edmund's, unimpressed at how he had not said a single word. But if he was being completely honest, socialising was not his thing in the slightest, he much preferred talking to those he was well connected with or comfortable with. "Aren't we Edmund?"
