Shadow POV:

When I wake up in the morning, I'm momentarily confused. I expect to be greeted with the sight of my bedroom. Instead, I'm in a queen-sized bed covered in white bedsheets with fuzzy pink blankets over them. The pillows are soft and covered in pale blue pillowcases.

'This...isn't my bed. It isn't my ceiling. Oh...'

I look next to me to see a sleeping Amy Rose still wrapped around my body. Her eyes are closed while she snores just slightly. Without thinking, I place my hand on her cheek. I bite my lip to keep from cursing myself out loud.

'Damnit, why do I keep doing shit like this?' I shake my head. 'I keep doing...intimate things like this.'

However, Amy wraps herself closer to me and I can't bring myself to wake her up. So I lay here, quietly observing the room.

Last night, I was too concerned about Rose's well-being to process my surroundings. Now that there's light entering the room from the window, I can see that this room is slightly smaller than my own bedroom. Nearby is a white-colored door that leads into a bathroom from what I can see by the visible sink. On the side of the room are two decently sized bookcases that are full to the brim with books. A window with blue curtains is next to it and in the corner of the room is a work desk with various books, rocks, and a small box on it.

I look back at Rose to see her beginning to wake up. When her eyes flutter open, I adjust her messy hair.

"Good morning," I whisper, trying to keep myself composed.

"Good morning, Shadow." She yawns and smiles softly at me. "I hope I didn't...inconvenience you by sleeping here."

I roll my eyes at her. "Please. When have I ever done anything I haven't wanted to do?"

"Oh come on. I'm positive that my bed isn't nearly as comfortable as yours."

"I mean, the mattress is good. Mine is slightly better just because of the size."

Amy laughs and places a kiss on my cheek. "Seriously though. Thank you for staying."

"No problem," I say. "I mean...I kind of like spending the night with you."

"Honestly, same. It's...nice to not be alone."

After about ten minutes of just laying in bed talking, we both agree to get up to go get some flowers for Cheese before the funeral. I wait for Rose in the living room, dealing with the hissing Cora gives me. Despite how I continuously feed her, she can't seem to warm up to me.

"Demon cat..." I mutter under my breath as I debate whether kicking it would cause serious harm. However, Rose comes out wearing a black crop top with black jeans and shoes. I raise an eyebrow at her in shock. "Since when do you own black clothing?"

Amy laughs as she grabs my hoodie and puts it on. "I can own black clothes. Besides, I can't wear red to a funeral. Let's go to your house so you can change clothes and then we go pick up some beautiful flowers."

We get in the car and head over to my house. I switch into a short-sleeved black buttoned-up shirt and slacks with boots. We head to a floral shop and pick out some bouquets of orange tulips with blue lilies.

As we carry them to the car, I thought comes to mind. "Rose...do you even know where in the forest the funeral is happening? Is it where we were yesterday?"

"No, not there. However, I do have an idea of where," She says, getting into the driver's side. I get in the passenger side to hold the flowers carefully. "Cream's brought me there. She's shown the me area where they met and something tells me that's where they'll be."
