Wilbur's P.O.V.

At first I didn't really like the orphanage. I mean I liked the director. She was nice to me, but I mean because I looked different from everyone else. No fur, no tails, no claws, and besides elves, no pointy ears.

The director, who was a cyclops, took me outside to the courtyard where everyone else played.

Director: It's okay. You can play with anyone. You can make new friends, here.

I wanted to run back inside, or just run away but I didn't want to get caught, or worse.

I went off to see a group of boys, playing ball. They looked friendly. I waved at them but they looked at me weird.

"Ew. What is that?"

"Ugh, it's so weird and hairy."

"Why are on all fours, you animal? Won't your hands get dirty?"

I got sad and walked away.

"Hey, freak! Answer me when I'm talking to you!"

The threw a ball at me and I fell down.

"Aw, you crying, freak? Go back to whatever hole you ever crawled out of. You don't belong here."

"Hey, leave him alone."

I looked to see an elf girl. She had hair in a bun and a kind look on her face.

"What do you want, Sadalia? We're dealing with this freak, here."

Sadalia: He's not a freak. Leave him alone.

"Oh yeah. What is he? I mean look at him."

She put her hands on my shoulders and guided me away.

"Fine. Be that circus freak's master. It's not like anyone will love him anyway."

Sadalia: (Scoffs) Jerks. Don't listen to them.

I looked down.

"I'm Sadalia. What's your name?"

I looked at her. I still couldn't speak English, so I just stuttered.

Sadalia: What's wrong, can you not speak?

I nodded "no".

Sadalia: Oh, it's okay. We can work on it. Want to play with me?

I nodded "yes". As my ears perked up. She noticed.

Sadalia: Wow. Cool, I wish my ears could do that.

I smiled as my tail wagged.

Sadalia's P.O.V.

Hours later, the director called us for dinner.

Director: Aw, Sadalia. Nice of you to make friends with Wilbur.

"Wilbur?"

The wolf boy looked at me with a questioning glance.

I decided to go up and talk to her.

"Director, does Wilbur talk?"

Director: Well, he can't speak English so he doesn't know how to communicate, but if you could help, I'd appreciate it. And I'm sure he'd appreciate it too.

"Also, Grover and his friends were mean to him."

Director: Well, I'll talk to them. In the meantime, you can stick with Wilbur.

I nodded, smiling.
