Thankfully, we barely made it out alive, but we made it. Barley was beaming with excitement about Ian's Levitation Spell.

Barley: That was unbelievable! I mean you were just like (gzzzt) and the beam was just floatin' there! My brother is a wizard!

He exclaimed as he pounded his fist on the ceiling.

Wilbur: Nice job, Ian. I owe you one.

Ian: I can't believe that worked.

Wilbur: What are you talking about? It worked, didn't it?

Barley: Oh, you're going to nail Dad's spell now.

Ian: Except we don't have a map.

Barley: But we got this. Behold.

He said as he held up the kid's menu. Which he completed.

Ian sighed.

Barley: Look, on a quest, you have to use what you got. And this is what we got. Best part is, little Kayla already solved the puzzle.

He said, gesturing to the little manticore on the menu.

Wilbur: Seriously? Then why'd we almost get killed for nothing?

Ian: Well, according to Kayla, we just have to look for Raven's Point.

He said, in realization.

Ian then got an idea and pull out a highway map. He then found Raven's Point, a mountain, on a map.

Barley: Yes, the gem must be in the mountain. We could be there by tomorrow morning.

Ian: Tomorrow morning?

Barley: That still gives us plenty of time with Dad.

Ian looked at Dad still shuffling his feet.

Ian looked back at the map.

Ian: Yeah. Well, it looks like the expressway should take us right there.

But Barley had an idea of his own. We stopped at a red light.

Barley: Mm. Expressway's a little too obvious. On a quest, the clear path is never the right one.

Ian: What?

Barley: During one Quests of Yore campaign, and Wilbur, you should remember, you were there, Shrub Rosehammer and I took the easy route, led him into the belly of a gelatinous cube. Only reason I didn't suffer the same fate? I followed my gut. And it's telling me we take an ancient trail called the Path of Peril.

He said as he drew a path on the map.

Ian: But the expressway is faster.

Barley: Maybe not in the long run.

Ian: I know you want this to be like one of your adventure games, but all that matters is that we get spend as much time as possible with Dad.

He said as Dad's legs slipped from his disguise and he came in between us.

Barley looked sad and sighed as he patted Dad's leg.

Ian: So, we should just take the expressway, right?

Barley: Yeah, you're right

He agreed, solemnly.

Barley: But if you end up inside a gelatinous cube, you are on your own.

He added.

As the light turned green. And we drove off, Ian came back to sit beside me.

Ian: You okay, Will?
