We're Going on a Quest

It was so exciting. Me and Barley were going to have the adventure we always wanted and Ian was going to learn from the masters. Hopefully. I still had some worries. Anyway, we paid our tip to a troll to get outside of city limits of New Mushroomton and we were finally on our way to the Manticore's Tavern. Meanwhile, Ian was talking to Dad.

Ian: Anyway, it's like this award for math. It's no big deal. But I'll show you when I get back home.

Dad's legs still just sat there.

Me and Barley noticed that Ian was putting something together in the back.

Barley: Hey, uh, what are you two Chatty Charlies up to back there?

Wilbur: More importantly, what's that you're making, Ian?

Ian: You know, I felt weird talking to Dad without a top half, so...

He put on a covering made up of some pillows, a vest, shades and a cap. It's genius. No one will ever suspect a thing. Hopefully.

Ian: Ta-da.

The homemade top half just sagged.

Barley: Oh, that's great! Dad you look just like I remember.

Wilbur: (smiling) Thankfully, he looks inconspicuous, at least.

Barley: Relax. It's a disguise. No one will ever question it. Hey, don't worry, Dad, we'll have the rest of you here before you know it. And then, first thing I'm gonna do, introduce you to Guinevere. Rebuilt this old girl myself, from the lug nuts to the air conditioning.

Oh no.

Barley turned on the air conditioning and it blew extreme winds at us before Ian turned it off. Of course it did make my fur poof up. Ian and Barley both laughed. It didn't make me feel amused.

Wilbur: Haha. Very funny.

I moved to the back and Ian took shotgun.

Ian: Showing Dad your van? That's your whole list?

Barley: What list?

Ian then had a notebook out.

Barley: What's that?

Ian: Oh. I'm just working on a list of things I wanted to do with Dad. You know, play catch, take a walk, driving lesson, share my whole life story with him.

Wilbur: That's nice.

Ian: What about you, Wilbur?

I froze. Mainly, I had my own issues I wanted to work out, but I didn't wanna weigh the boys down with it.

Wilbur: I have kind of a personal list.

Ian frowned.

Barley: That's cool. Oh, but before you cast Dad's spell again, you're gonna need to practice your magic.

He said while giving Ian a book of spells.

Ian groaned, just looking at it.

Ian: This book is for a game.

Wilbur: No, it's not. It's a spell book. And it's going to help you.

Barley: Exactly. Just like I told you, everything in Quests of Yore is historically accurate. Even the spells. So (in his adventurous voice) start practicing, young sorcerer. And give him a hand, Professor Wilbur.

He said, giving Ian his staff.

I groaned.

Wilbur: Ok.

Ian: Alright, guys. Let's try some magic.

Meanwhile, at this time. What we didn't know was that Mom found out we had gone and saw a clue of where we were going. And she was on her way to find us.
