Goodbye Dad

Laurel's P.O.V.

"I'm afraid that sickness has gotten so far into his body. He might not have long even if we do operate on him."

I was broken hearted to hear the news. I was about to lose the love of my life and I will soon have to take care of three boys by myself. It was too much.

Laurel: Thank you.

Wilden came out of the room, later, and I wrapped my arms around him in a hug and cried.

Wilden: It'll be okay, Laurel.

Laurel: How will it be okay, Will? We're gonna lose you.

Wilden: You won't lose me. I'll always be in your hearts, Laurel.

Wilden P.O.V.

They won't lose me. I knew myself because I had a plan for them, later in life. I wanted to be part of their lives, no matter what, but I knew that wasn't a possibility, now.

Later that night, I was sitting in my chair when Wilbur came up to me.

Wilbur: Daddy? Are you gonna be okay?

I had to tell him the truth. No matter how much it might hurt.

Wilden: I'll be okay, Wilbur. But I'll be gone, soon. I wanna be there, but I'll only be in your hearts.

Wilbur: Please don't go, Daddy.

He began crying, unable to stop the tears. Neither could I.

Wilden: I know you'll be okay, Wilbur. I want you and Barley to take care of your baby brother.

He nodded and gave me a hug.

Wilbur's P.O.V.

The following week, Dad had to be transported to the emergency room. We had to say goodbye him, today. Barley looked really nervous. Mom came up to us, tears in her eyes.

Mom: Okay, boys time to say goodbye. Barley, you first.

Barley nodded and slowly went up to the door and then froze. I came up to him.

Wilbur: Barley?

He began to cry and ran.

Barley: I can't! I can't do it!

I looked at Barley crying his eyes out.

I decided to go in and saw what Barley was afraid of.

Dad hooked up to tubes and looking unnatural.

I swallowed and went inside just to saw goodbye to Dad.

Moments later, I saw Barley just sitting next to Mom. I knew that it was going to be different without Dad from now on.
