Ezran sat in his throne, waiting for his special guest to arrive. He hadn't seen this guest in a while. Two years, actually. He barely knew this guest. But he knew she had a kind heart. Maybe he even liked her. A little. Opeli, as always, was speaking to him. Telling him of his kingly duties. Finally, there was a quiet, polite knock on the throne room door. The guards allowed them in, and Ezran was shocked to see how much his guest had changed from the last time he saw her. "Wow," he whispered.
The girl rode into the throne room on the back of her trusty wolf. "Ezran?" she asked tentatively. "Ellis?" The girl stopped, mouth agape. "W- welcome!" Ezran was starting to second guess the 'a little'. Her long black hair dangled down, almost touching her wolf companion, who looked noticeably older. White fur had started to sprout from her snout. Ellis was taller and, to Ezran, quite attractive. He could feel his face warm up. "Uh, right. Ummm, wel- welcome to Katolis!"
She smiled. "How about we let King Ezran show you around," Opeli suggested, gesturing to the throne. Ezran felt his heartbeat speed up. "Y- yeah! Sure, I'll- I'll show you around," he agreed, hopping down from his throne. Opeli smirked at Ez as he strolled over to his old friend. He greeted Ava, as well. "So, King Ezran, huh?" Ezran smiled. "Yeah. My father... he passed away after we left to return Zym."
Ellis shifted in her saddle. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear about that." Ezran now had a far-off look in his eyes. Ellis placed a gloved hand on his shoulder. "Ez?" He shook himself out of his trance and turned to look at her. "Yeah?" She wore a warm smile as she spoke to him. "My mother... she didn't live to see me grow much, either. She died when I was... I don't know. Seven?" Ezran gasped. "I'm so sorry to hear about that." Ellis felt the tears well up in her eyes. Crud. I can't cry in front of Ezran! She desperately tried to wipe the tears from her eyes.
Ezran noticed this. He helped her down off Ava's back. Ez engulfed Ellis in a hug. A little shaken, she hugged him back. Two children, both eleven years of age, each liked the other. It was the kind of baby love you might find in a children's movie. But they were both quite mature. Ezran had fought in losing battles. Ellis, well, she was... cool. I mean, she was the friend of someone who had fought in losing battles. And won, one might add. They broke away from their hug. "Uhh, sorry. I just..." "It's okay." She looked away from him as she reassured him rather quickly.
It was a few moments before Ezran continued the tour. First stop, of course, was the bakery. For jelly tarts.

Fanfiction"What if Rayla never left?" Yup. This story answers that question! Or, at least, it tries. I have been contemplating for FAR too long. "Hmm.. I want to make this book." But I never did. So now, I'm going to.
