"Hey, Ezran? I need to talk to you." Callum knocked again on his brother's door. "Ez?" Finally, the door swung inward. "SHH!" Callum peered into the room and found Ellis asleep on the floor. "Shut. Up," Ezran whispered. Callum chuckled. "Uh-huh. Well, I need to talk to you, so..." "You have your own room, you know." "Ah-hah! I have you there! I do not! I share a bedroom." Ezran glared at him. "Alright, come on, let's go."
Callum knocked to make sure he could come in. "Rayla? Can I come in?" No response. "Rayla?" Still nothing. He pressed his ear up against the door. Nothing. This scared him. He opened the door. He sighed with relief. She's asleep, Callum. He sat down on his bed and patted the space next to him. Ezran sat down. "Right. So, Rayla and I have some plans. Big plans. I wanna run them over to you. Get your opinion." "Alright. Go on." Callum started to go over their plans. A small ceremony, just outside of town. They would only invite close friends and such. Ezran nodded.
"Sound good?" "Yeah! Can't wait!" Callum sighed, "Boy, neither can I."

Ellis struggled to open her eyes. What time is it? Where's Ezran? The king swung open the door. Noticing Ellis was awake, he straightened his back. "Oh! Uh... I was... just... talking to... Callum." There's the giant moon moth again. Ellis nodded. "Cool." She turned over and rested her head near her wolf companion's. "Goodnight," she called over her shoulder. "Goodnight," Ezran mumbled back.

Callum awoke first. He felt cold and lonely. So, he snuggled up in the blankets and scooched closer to Rayla. He rested his head on her shoulder and just... fell back asleep. He just listened to her steady breathing, and it lulled him back to sleep. He dreamed a strange dream."What are you doing?" Callum looked up to see Terry peering over his shoulder. Callum thought for a moment. What was he doing? He was just kinda sitting there. "I dunno. Watching the guards train, I guess." But one guard was missing. One of the head crownguard. Rayla. "Where..." "Your elf friend?" Suddenly, it didn't sound like Terry, but Claudia. "What- when did you get here? And where's Rayla?" Claudia didn't respond, but her face became distorted, dark and gaunt with a sinister smile. "Claudia...?"
Callum jolted upward as he woke. He looked to his side. Sure enough, Rayla lay beside him. Still sleeping. Still okay. Askerius knows what Claudia would have done to Rayla. He sighed. "Okay. Alright." He lay back down, but sleep could not find him again.
What could that dream mean?

Fanfiction"What if Rayla never left?" Yup. This story answers that question! Or, at least, it tries. I have been contemplating for FAR too long. "Hmm.. I want to make this book." But I never did. So now, I'm going to.
