Chapter 17 - 'What'd you do?'

Sometime later, Sam and Bucky arrive at the North Plaza. "Karli!" Sam shouts. They find Karli on the second floor. They go upstairs and approach her.

Angry, Bucky questions her, "Threatening my fiancé? That's how we're gonna play this?"

"Mr. Barnes, I would never hurt her," Karli answered. "I just wanted to understand her better." They stare at each other. "And I thought I specifically said for Sam and Sofia to come here?"

"You did? But when you threatened her, I made her stay behind."

"How thoughtful of you." They stare and glare at each other with anger.

"You have to end this now," Sam pleaded.

Karli replied, "I don't wanna hurt you. You're just a tool in the regimes I'm looking to destroy. You're not hiding behind a shield. If I were to kill you, it'd be meaningless. I was gonna ask you to join me. Or do the world a favor and let me go."

Meanwhile, in Madripoor, Sharon is helping Sam locate Walker. However, she notices something is off. Back in the North Plaza, Sharon warns Sam and Bucky, "Hey Sam, new Cap is on the move. Sofia is behind him."

Shocked, Bucky responds, "What?!" Knowing it's a trap, he jumps off the railing.

However, Karli attempts to stop him, until Sam intervenes. Bucky and Sam fight off Karli. Once she's on the ground, Bucky looks at Sam. "I'll send you the location," Sam responded. "Go!"

Bucky runs as fast as he can to get to Sofia. Karli follows him. As he runs to the location, Bucky contacts his sister and Loki and says, "Loki! Call Sofia, she found Walker!"

At the same time, Lemar and Walker enter an abandoned building. Once inside, Walker stays downstairs, and Lemar goes upstairs to look around. However, after a few moments, Walker goes up and finds that Lemar is missing. Softly and quietly he calls out, "Lemar...Lemar!" Suddenly there's a noise. He realizes that the bad guys have taken him. Walker runs through a door and starts looking for Lemar. As he goes through a corridor, he uses his sense of hearing and hears a noise. He then goes down the hallway.

In the bathroom, two Flagsmashers put Lemar unconscious on the ground. The female super soldier commands his partner, "Tie him up." He does so.

On the other side of the building, Sofia sneaks around inside. At that moment, she feels her phone vibrating again; she puts the ear comm on and answers, "Hello?"

"Sofia, where are you?" asks Loki

"I'm in the building." Suddenly she hears gunshots and yelling. "Walker and Lemar are here."

"We're on our way. Wait for us." However, she hangs up. At the same time, Loki and Becca are walking the streets, looking for suspected activity. "She hung up on me."

"Is she okay?" Becca asks.

Loki calls Bucky. He answers. "James, Sofia just answered," said Loki. "She's at the building."

"Is she okay?" Bucky asks.

"I don't know, but you two need to hurry. I heard gunfire in the background."

"I'm almost there." Bucky and Karli are running to the location.

At that moment, Sam makes it and lands inside the building. Sam turns as he hears Dovich smashed against the wall. Dovich then grabs a pipe. At the same time, Walker walks down the stairs and puts the shield on his back. As Dovich prepares to hit him, Walker catches it and bends it in half. "Oh, shit," Dovich gasped.

Sam realizes that Walker did something. Walker then throws Dovich across the room. Sam turns to Walker as he walks downstairs and asks, "What'd you do?"

"They've got Lemar," Walker replied. He and Sam go and search for Lemar.

Meanwhile, Lemar groans as he wakes up, grabs his pocket knife, and cuts himself loose.

At the same time, Bucky runs up the stairs case, and one of the Flagsmashers hits him. They then start fighting. Bucky kicks him down the stairs; then, he jumps down to the floor to meet him. Once he meets the Flagsmasher face to face, he kicks him straight through the wall. The guy is knocked out. Bucky looks down at him and says, "Stay there." At that moment, he hears Sofia fighting another Flagsmasher, and she throws him against a beam and knocks him out with her magic. "Hey!" He runs up to her. "You okay?"

"Yeah, I'm alright," Sofia replied.

"And the -"

"Yes, we're fine." Sofia implied and nodded.

"Thank God." He hugs her and then has her face him. "Why did you do that, doll? I thought you were hurt. Or that you -"

"Bucky! Later, not now! Now come on!" They run to find the others.

Sam and Walker run into an empty room. Once they look around the room, two Flagsmashers jump from behind them and attack them. One of them takes out his dagger in front of Walker. Annoyed Walker asks, "What's with all the knives?" They then start to fight. Becca and Loki enter and join in the fight.

Then Bucky and Sofia enter. Bucky turns to Sofia. But she says to him, "Go. I'll be okay." Bucky nods and joins in the fight. Sofia stays behind and watches.

Bucky fights the smashers that have a knife in his hand. Once the guy is on the ground, he catches a knife and aims it at the smasher but misses. He then helps Sam for a split second. "You're welcome," he says.

Sofia shouts, "No! Stop!" Bucky turns as he sees one of them about to fight Sofia. She uses her skills until the guy pulls out a knife. When she sees the knife, she panics.

Bucky goes up to the guy, stops him, and says, "I don't think so." He then fights off the guy.

Walker is getting held down by a Flagsmasher. Then Karli runs in with a dagger and aims for Walker. But Lemar intervenes and fights her until she kicks him to a beam and kills him. Everyone turns as they see that Lemar is lying against the beam. Lifeless. They let go of Walker. Karli is horrified. Walker runs up to him and tries to wake up Lemar. He says, "Hey. Hey. Hey. Lemar. Lemar."

But it's too late. Everyone watches for his reaction for a few moments; then, they flee as they escape the craziness. Bucky, Sam, Sofia, Loki, and Becca follow the others to try and catch them. Walker, however, breathes heavily, runs out the window, and lands on the hood of a car. He turns his head as he sees one of them escaping. Walker pursues them and attacks them in the main square. "Where is she?" he questioned. Walker throws his shield at the guy over and over at him until he is on a monument, to corner him. Walker then places his foot on the guy.

The Flagsmasher is terrified and shouts, "It wasn't me! It wasn't me!"

Walker yells as he raises his arms and kills him by beating him with the shield. The crowd pulls up their cellphones and records him as they are shocked to see what they are seeing. Walker stands there looking at the body. Bucky, Becca, Loki, Sam, and Sofia stop and watch as they are shocked to see what Walker has done. From behind the crowd, Karli is sad. Walker looks up and realizes that everybody is watching.
