English writing is
Not for everyone,
But in my opinion
Creative writing is fun.
English writing has many styles
That you could choose from.
Maybe you hate writing
Because you're using the wrong one.

In English and storytelling
There's many ways to write.
Journal, novel, or poetry,
Just find the one just right.
There's lots of different genres,
Some better, some worse.
If none of it's of interest,
You would be the first.

Books are like the internet
But not on a screen.
Books and poems can be
About anything that can be seen.
Do you like music?
Here's a clue!
Poems are just songs
Without the music, that's the truth.

Song lyrics are just poems
That you add music to.
And everyone on earth has
A song they like, I know I do!
But maybe poetry's not your thing
Maybe it's bologna,
Maybe what you need instead
Is a picture book with ponies.

Picture books are movies
That you play in your mind.
Novels and picture books
Come in all different kinds.
You might like Harry Potter
With magic and villains.
You might like Percy Jackson,
The adventure never ends.

Or maybe readings not for you
but at least now you know
That books are movies, poems are songs,
And I'm sure you love those.
