hi.
we all know wattpad is for amorous fan fictions, right? so why the hell am i sharing my poetry on this lusty platform?
good question.
honestly, idk the answer. i think i want people to relate to me. i certainly want to relate to other people. but i am also scared of being seen. on this platform, so obviously not meant for sincere writers (no offense), i doubt my work will be seen or at least not taken seriously.
so why not?
the worst that could come out of this is that I embarrass myself, but the infinitesimal chance of my writing striking a cord in someone's heart far outweighs that.to me, poetry and writing in general is a literal window into one's brain. many of one's recurring ideas and beliefs come out when they put pen to paper, whether they know it or not.
poetry, in particular, is the rawest and truest form of expressing one's thoughts, I believe. most of us think in words, videos, sounds, feelings, scents, and images—moving pieces—which cannot be captured by normal prose.
however, the use of poetic devices and unique forms makes the reader feel at least a fragment of what the author felt when they wrote their piece. good poetry affects feeling.
that being said... I'd like to add,
"there is something at the bottom of every new human thought, every thought of genius, even every earnest thought that springs up in any brain, which can never be communicated to others, even if one were to write volumes about it and were explaining one's idea for thirty-five years; there's something left which cannot be induced to emerge from your brain, and remains with you forever; and with it you will die, without communicating to anyone perhaps the most important of your ideas."
-Fyodor Dostoevsky, the idiotnevertheless, if i read a poem and it makes me feel something—positive or negative—i will know it was, at the very least, not useless. so please, laugh, sob, shit, slide down a wall. just do anything for my silly little words!
thank you very kindly for making it this far.
i plan to include the definitions of odd words, share my inspiration/form, and perhaps include images in each piece. only time can tell what the future holds, but i will be very glad if someone undertakes this passing of time with me. :)
