Chapter 6

I let myself fall onto my bed tiredly. It was bad enough that I had to break up all these fights, but it's even worse to lie to Sonic. I mean, I understand what might of happened if I didn't, but still. Lying to Sonic makes a deep guilt in the pit of my stomach, a guilt I guess I have to cope with from now on.
I changed into a red sweater and some blue jeans and curled up in my bed with my Sonikku plushie. Why does Sonic have so much bad blood between Shadow? Did he to something to him? And who's this 'her' they're always talking about? And since when did I become smart? Well, lying around isn't going to help me answer any of these questions now, is it?
Suddenly there was a loud knock at my apartment door. I looked at the clock, which read '7:30 PM'. Who would be coming over at this hour?

(Lin: I know many of you consider that early, but I consider it quite rude since it's my Anime hour...)

There was another loud knock at my door, and I finally stood up.
"Hey Ames," Sonic said sheepishly as he leaned on the doorway.
"Hey Sonic! Come in, come in!" I smiled as I pushed him to the couch in the living room. He sat down and laid back, putting his red book bag down along with a pizza box he had brought.
"So, to what do I owe this lovely visit? Hm?" I said.
"Well, I was wondering if you could help me study these..." he said as he put down some science books about chemical compounds and whatnot.
"Mr.Sonic needs help in chemestry? Shocking!" I laughed, my words dripping with sarcasm. He blushed "yeah, I do. Ms.Vanilla didn't teach the subject so well."
"Then how come I understand what chemical compounds and all these things are, hm?"
"Fine! I was messing around with Knuckles in the back of the class."
"And now you're asking your best friend to tutor you."
"Pretty much."
"3 words, 10 letters. Say them and I'll help you."
"I've got food?" Sonic said as he shook the pizza box and the Mt.Dews he had just taken out of his bag.
I smiled and sat on the floor. "Deal!"

"Now we've covered the basics! You want me to keep going?" I asked Sonic, who was now frantically writing everything I had just said.
"W-wait...what's H2O again?"
I face palmed. He did NOT just ask that. "H2O is water. 2 hydrogen molecules and one oxygen molecule make water."
"I know, I was trying to piss you off," he said with a smile that made butterflies flutter in the pit of my stomach. That stupid, goofy smile of his always gets to me somewhy. I took a slice of the pizza, and felt Sonic wrap his arm around my shoulder which caused my face to turn bright red in a matter of seconds. I turned my gaze over to him, and he was looking at the floor. His face was, if possible, redder than mine, and that caused me to let out a small giggle. I leaned closer and rested my head on his shoulder, treasuring every second of this unusual moment. There was a silence, a sweet and comfortable silence. We silently chewed on our pizza slices, until Sonic turned my head to face his. He started leaning in, slowly. I closed my eyes, anxiously awaiting the moment when he clashed his lips with mine...
But having the luck I have, that never happened.
There was a loud knock at my door, which sadly interrupted what was going to be our first kiss.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
I stood up and opened it, just to be greeted by my older brother.
"Angeline! It's so good to see you!" He said with a light laugh as he gave me a bear hug and gently picked me up from the floor.
"Hey, Jack! I missed you, too!" I smiled as he put me down. He looked past my shoulder, catching a glimpse of the blue hedgehog that was still bright red.
"Who's this? Boyfriend?" Jack said teasingly as he went into my apartment. He got near Sonic and stood him up with ease. Jack examined Sonic, commenting from the color of his eyes to the hair gel he uses.
So embarrassing...
"So," Jack started with a small smirk. "Did I interrupt a hardcore make out session between two lovers or what?"
Sonic's face turned red along with mine, which caused Jack to burst out laughing like a maniac.
"Your reactions! So fucking priceless!" He managed to cackle between laughs. He was seriously laughing so hard and so loud that I bet all of Möbius could've heard. I punched him playfully. "No, this is Sonic the Hedgehog."
"A friend, I presume?" He said groggily, still getting back from all that laughing.
I nodded. "Precisely!"
"Ok, I have no idea why you guys are using such big words, but I'll take this as my hint to get my ass outta here," Sonic said with a smile as he packed up the notebooks and textbooks he had brought. "Thanks for the study session, Amy. Nice meeting you, Jack!"
"Bye, Sonic!" Jack and I said in unison. I keep my gaze at the now closed door, reminiscing about the kiss we were so close to sharing before my brother interrupted.
"Hello? Earth to Amy! Anyone there?" Jack said, playfully knocking his knuckles on my head. I smiled, snapping out of my trance. "So, what did you really come for, Jack?" I asked as I sat down on the floor and took another slice of pizza.
"Oh, nothing much. Just here to bother my only sister is all," he said as he stole the slice I had just gotten.
"Jack..."
"Okay, fine. I'm kinda bored of being alone in my house so I was wondering of you'd like to move in with me!"
"Move in with you?"
"I know it's sudden, so I'll give you some time to think about it! It'll be like old days, how about it?"
"Let me think about it..."
"Deal! Well I've gotta go, my boss is calling from work. Love ya sis!"
"Love you too, you freak," I said with a playful smile.
Moving in with Jack, hm? That doesn't sound too bad... And I won't be wasting as much money on rent every month, right? Heh, sounds like a good deal!
But...I still can't believe sonic was about to kiss me... surely, he wasn't thing about it, right?
Right!
Don't make up illusions, Amy!
Live with reality.
You and Sonic are just friends!
Yeah...just friends....
