Immediately after that, I shifted my focus back to my cell phone and finally saw everything that had happened while I'd been ignoring the virtual world like a coward. Tobias had called me twenty times, Annie five times, and I had over twenty unread messages. I couldn't let that phase me though, so when I opened my conversation with Tobias, I only read the last few messages. These he had apparently sent while he was sitting on our border, and his tapping on his phone suddenly made sense.
"Has he sent it yet?" Sam asked, interrupting me from my thoughts.
"Sent what?" Mason asked.
"Apparently the hunters are operating under contract. Anyone can hire them and alert them to a problem in the supernatural world. If someone alerts them that someone is a danger, they have to check it out," I explained briefly.
"Are you telling me that someone reported our pack as dangerous?" Mason's eyebrows shot up.
"Yes," I confirmed. "I've asked Tobias to send me all the evidence he has on that."
"So Tobias," Cobe repeated. A subtle smile played on his lips, and I had no doubt that he was planning to give me a good interrogation the moment we were alone.
I felt an involuntary heat rise to my cheeks, colouring them crimson.
"Now, again. Did he send it?" Thankfully, Sam interjected, redirecting the conversation back to the important topic at hand.
Before I could say no, not yet, my phone vibrated in my hands. Tobias asked me to give him an e-mail address that I was sure was safe to use. I tapped it automatically and then answered aloud. "He's sending it right now."
"Good." Mason nodded.
Then there was a moment of silence between us as we all waited for information. It wasn't a comfortable silence, because the atmosphere between us was tense, and Tobias' credibility depended on what he would send. We were all aware of it, but I was the one most on edge.
"It's going to be okay," Cobe's voice suddenly sounded in my head, and luckily, I controlled myself and didn't let it show.
"Thanks, Cobe, and I'm sorry," I replied honestly.
"Don't be sorry, you better be ready to tell me everything about Tobias," his voice was cheerful although his face remained neutral. I had no doubt that he would want to know everything, and I could only hope that he wouldn't tell on me to our parents right away.
"I'll tell you anything you want," I promised him.
Shortly after that, the phone started to vibrate in my hands again, and this time, instead of calls and messages, it was showing a new e-mail. I immediately clicked on it and saw that Tobias had sent me three attachments. Two were documents, and one was an audio recording.
"Got it," I said aloud before making a quick decision. I moved from where I was standing to the computer chair and switched on another monitor so that I could open the things he had sent me for everyone to see.
Luckily, they all immediately understood what I was doing and surrounded me so that no one would miss a thing.
Tobias hadn't written any explanation in the email, so it was up to me to decide which one to open first. I decided to leave the audio recording for last and opened one of the documents instead.
According to the date, this document was written one month before the attack on our pack.
"Lucas Morningstar," Mason read aloud, and I, shocked, quickly looked up where he had found the name. When I found it though, I was even more stunned. According to this document, it was Lucas Morningstar who had identified our pack as a potential threat.
