"You're finally here." Annie greeted us as soon as we walked through the door. She was lying in bed and Rob was sitting next to her, watching television together.
It looked like I was finally going to get a chance to meet her husband.
"You must be Colby." Rob stood up and made a beeline for me with his hand outstretched.
"I am and you must be Rob. I've heard a lot about you," I revealed, shaking his hand.
Rob laughed. "Certainly not as much as I've heard about you. Lily adores you."
"Not as much as I adore her," I assured him.
"Good. She's my little princess." He gave me a smile before returning to Annie on the bed. "And you're my queen." He planted a kiss on her head.
I couldn't hold back a smile at the sight of them.
"Just sit on the floor, you idiots." Annie beckoned us as we were still standing by the door. Of course what Annie said went, so we quickly moved to the carpet.
"Josie said you met Devin, Josh, Rachel, and Atlas." Annie looked pleased at the revelation.
"They're really nice." I was telling the truth. I was most worried about Rachel, but in the end it turned out there was no reason to be.
"Don't worry, the others will quickly get used to you too," Rob said.
"Especially when they find out how smart you are." Tobias planted a kiss on my cheek. "Colby has an M.S. in Optical Engineering," he revealed, and there was a hint of pride in his voice.
"Optical Engineering? Damn." Rob looked genuinely amazed.
"Sounds like we're going to have the first Raekan with a college degree." Of course Annie didn't miss a chance to bring up our wedding.
"There is no wedding," Tobias and I said in unison, then looked at each other in surprise. Annie's laughter brought a smile to our faces as well, and just as we were speaking at the same time, we leaned in at the same time so that our lips met in a quick kiss.
"I'm only allowing it because I don't want to look pregnant in your wedding pictures." Annie pointed her finger at us.
"You always look good," Rob assured her immediately, running a hand over her belly.
"And you always flatter me, even when I look homeless." Annie gave him a look that made it clear his opinion carried no weight in this case.
"Speaking of homeless, I think Mason is on to something about Kristof and his mate," I interjected.
"What do you mean?" They both immediately turned serious.
"I don't know yet, but I saw the way Kristof looked at him. He recognised him, I'm sure," I explained what I knew so far.
"I texted everyone to come here discreetly. Mason wanted to meet here," Tobias added.
"Everyone?" Annie repeated.
"Josh, Devin and Rachel," Tobias listed. "Looks like we've formed a secret alliance."
"I'm glad you didn't leave the pregnant women out of it." Annie smiled with delight and folded her hands on her stomach in satisfaction.
"We wouldn't dare," her brother assured her.
"Good."
It looked like we had managed to inform them of Mason's plan just in time, because there was a knock at the door. However, it was not the wolf who arrived first, although he was the one who wanted to gather them.
