"You must complete your bond."

Alpha's words came as a surprise to us all, especially when Mason's previous orders had been exactly the opposite.

Apparently, Alpha wanted assurance that they could trust Tobias while they revealed the rest of the plan to us, and that meant I had to have access to his mind. And that was only possible once our bond was complete.

So for the rest of the day, we headed to my parents' house, where my dad was in charge of keeping watch over us and which was surrounded by warriors to make sure we didn't escape.

My family tried to reassure me that this was a good outcome of the situation and that at least they had the opportunity to get to know Tobias better.

We all silently agreed that we would complete the bond in the evening when we went to bed anyway, and we all avoided the subject since it involved sex after all.

Right now, however, we weren't doing anything in particular and instead my family gave us a chance to relax after a stressful day.

We were in my old room, and as I sat on the bed, Tobias looked around the room, taking in all the things I'd left on the shelves. Even though I didn't live here anymore, it still looked like my room when I used to come here from college, and there was also no lack of things from my childhood.

I had no doubt that Tobias would soon find something particularly embarrassing, and it didn't even take long.

"Were you a Pokémon fan?" Tobias turned to me, holding a Poké ball that I had managed to forget about.

"Yes," I admitted honestly, my cheeks involuntarily blushing.

Tobias hummed in agreement, his eyes slipping to the ball in his hand. "My favourite was Charmander," he admitted.

"I liked Arcanine," I revealed with a small smile.

"I'm not sure I remember which one it is," he said, frowning as he tried to remember.

"The one that looks like a wolf," I admitted in a low voice, and Tobias chuckled. "Of course."

A smile of understanding appeared on his face, and he stepped back from the shelf and came closer to me. I automatically spread my legs for him to stand between them and he did so without hesitation, running his hand through my hair.

"I need a haircut," I admitted, although his fingers combing through my long strands of blonde hair was more than pleasant. I didn't even realise I was barely keeping my eyes open.

Tobias hummed disapprovingly, and my gaze quickly snapped to his face. Our eyes met, and his cheeks took on a redder hue.

"I like your hair." He took a strand near my cheek between his fingers and gently wrapped it around his forefinger.

I gave him a sincere smile. "How long should I let it grow then?" I asked curiously. It was already almost down to my shoulder blades.

"As long as you want," Tobias replied without hesitation. I reached for him and pulled him closer by his waist, making him sit on my lap. But even then he didn't let go of my hair, instead, he started to play with it with both hands.

It was more than comforting and just what I needed right now.

I carefully laid my head on his shoulder, leaving enough room for him to have access to the strands of my hair, and closed my eyes contentedly.

"Are you sleepy?" Tobias asked quietly.

"It's your fault," I mumbled, and he chuckled softly.

"Do you want to rest before tonight?" I considered his suggestion but quickly rejected it. I had the perfect opportunity to show my family that Tobias fit right in, and I wasn't going to waste it.
