Contrary to his expectations, now Mu Qing was suddenly hushed, and cuddled into him.
A little confused, and recognizing that it was probably something deep that the boy wanted to discuss with him, something hard to talk about, Feng Xin braced himself, and just held him. He held him patiently, gently. And the Omega appreciated it.
Very soon their very different cups of coffee arrived, and they sat together, hugging, and sipping on coffee from time to time. The Alpha just had to smile as his loved one stole his cup away from him, to taste, and frown, and mumble: "My coffee is so much better than this crap!". But it was OK, because the scent was peaceful, and the Omega was purring into his chest, very very quietly, true, but he felt the soft vibrations with all his body.
- We could have done this at home too, puppy. – he murmured now, and traced his hand over the slender boy's spine. – Did you just want to cuddle today?
But then he remembered. The talk was supposed to be related to... sex? And also – there was still Mu Qing's question.
He decided to answer it.
- I dunno what to say. I think our scents changed the night we bonded. And I know that your scent will change when you get...
He bit his lips.
Mu Qing immediately lifted his eyes and stared at him, alert.
- When you get... pregnant. – Feng Xin swallowed hard. – And I know the motherfucker didn't lie about it. The scents.
The Omega smiled faintly. There were quite a lot of "motherfuckers" on Feng Xin's list, but still some were more special than others. He knew that his husband meant Hua Cheng.
- He is still a crappy Beta, yes. – the Alpha went on philosophically, now glaring for no reason at all at their waitress from across the saloon. – But I am sure he wasn't lying.
- Mm-mmm. - Mu Qing agreed.
The stroking over his back made the Omega sleepy, despite the coffee. His Alpha had been right, he had to admit it to himself. It would have been better if they had stayed home for this.
But he... he hoped... he had hoped...
He finished the rest of his coffee in one gulp, making Feng Xin raise an eyebrow, and then he just straddled his hips, sitting in him, facing him, his back to the rest of the coffee-shop.
The Alpha focused. It was coming.
- I really thought... - Mu Qing hugged him and mumbled in his neck, hiding there. – I really thought it would be different. Now that we are married, you know? I thought there would be a change. That I would change.
The bouncer did not quite understand, but kept quiet.
- I thought the world will be different today, but it's the same. I thought people would see me differently, but they... just don't. Am I stupid, Alpha? Do I really... smell... so bad? To other people? To... all Betas? Really?
The last words were whimpered so pitifully that Feng Xin's heart skipped a beat. It hurt, to hear this, to feel it through their bond, to sense it in their shared scent.
- Hey? Babe?
He removed the clingy Omega a little away from his body, and looked into the flushed face; Mu Qing was doing his best to hide his tears from him. He held his shoulders firmly, so that the boy wouldn't just creep up into him again, hiding more in his embrace.
And then he spoke, words that he never knew he would be capable of:
- The world got different the moment I fell in love with you, my love... My world turned upside-down! You changed everything, A-Qing. And through you, I got to know myself better, I got to know my history. Do you think this is a small thing?
- Alpha... I am not sure... I don't deserve... such... - the boy whined, still sniffling.
- It's true! The talks I had with Ma, with Pa? They were because of you! I got to know about... their first baby. The blood tests? I got to know my heritage, my true strength, my true pride! It was you, Omega! - Feng Xin exclaimed now.
The little Omega was blushing, stupidly happy and proud, embarrassed by the awesome acknowledgement.
- I found you. My Fate, my mate. You changed my life. The world is most definitely not the same, puppy! You changed everything! You ruined my house! You ruined my clothes! Don't you remember???
Mu Qing was chuckling now, not really sorry, taking advantage of the fact that the grip on him loosened, and so he snuggled deep into his lover, listening to him, purring louder too.
- Stupid??? – the Alpha went on, suddenly inspired, and mildly aware that he was ranting now. – Do you think I'll take someone stupid to be my mate? Huh? – he enjoyed the content smell and the intense purr in his solar plexus now. – And smelling bad to people??? Who gives a flying FUCK about people, sweetness? Do I look like someone who gives a crap about fucking Hua Cheng, huh??? You smell like heaven to me... You... Youuu...
Mu Qing gasped, and looked up. He had waited for those words all day long.
- Mu Qing... You are my heaven. You are my husband. You are my... home. – Feng Xin said softly, taking his face in the palms of his hands.
The Omega whimpered and leaned in, and they kissed, thirstily and with great satisfaction, just like always, mixing coffee tastes with pleasure, purring for each other, and showering each other with massive amounts of pheromones, so much so that when the waitress came along to bring them the bill, she had to be pinching her nose shut.
- Akhem!
They broke it off, not caring about anything.
- Do you wanna go back, pup, to stare at stupid fish some more, basically... small and raw swimming dinner, yeah? – Feng Xin mocked.
- No... No! Let's go back home! I wanna make some cookies for you, Alpha! - Mu Qing grinned, still catching his breath. – Who knows? My hand might just slip when I add some special spices and secret ingredients!
- I hope, for your own good, that this means some weird ass aphrodisiac, you freak! – Feng Xin huffed, unimpressed.
- Well... this. Or... poison! – the Omega chanted, smirking at him, but still looking very flushed at the great idea.
- You crazy bitch wife you! – Feng Xin mumbled under his nose now, but let the boy lean all over him and bite his lower lip.
- I heard that, asshole!!! - Mu Qing purred.
