I was on the couch in Mr.Kay's house. "Honey, stop acting like you're sleeping. I've known you long enough to know that you're awake." Mr.Kay said from the kitchen.
I shot up into a sitting position on the Pastel Pink couch. "How did you know?" I questioned. He gave me a look that looked like it said 'isn't it obvious?'
"Because I know you better than anyone does, even your mother. Always gone she is. Anyways, I know that's what you do when you don't want to talk to someone about something."Mr.Kay said out of breath.
The look I gave him said 'Oh yah I know'. Mr.Kay understood me more than anyone did and that's why I loved him so much.
"Mr.Kay may I ask you a question?" I finally questioned.
"Yes, baby doll." Mr.Kay said without a hesitation.
"Anything?" I asked.
"Yes, anything." He said.
"May I stay with you instead of going home? Please I won't make a mess and I just nee-" I began but Mr.Kay cut me off.
"Yes, darling you can stay if your mother is okay with it. You can have one of the extra bedrooms and bring your cat you'll want him. Wont you? What was his name again?"Mr.Kay said.
"Thank you, sir. His name is Cotton Ball." I said as I hugged him.
"Oh, just call me Gramps." he said as he hugged me back.
"Thanks, Gramps." I said with a smile.
I finally had found a home with the old man I loved and that man was 75.

I walked into the spare room at Gramps' house. This room would become mine, now. I had asked him to paint it black last week, while I packed. He wasn't big on the color but I guess he followed through because all the walls were black except one white wall. I looked at the white wall in question.
"Oh, yes that's to paint on, Eugene. I know how much you love to paint." gramps said from behind me. It's true I love to paint but I haven't for since the accident.
"Thanks, Gramps." I said as I began to move stuff around the room and unpack.
"Oh, I brought someone over to help you. A keeper I tell you. He should be here any moment." gramps said. Not even 5 seconds later we heard the door bell ring.
"I knew my Gramps senses were tingling. There he is." Gramps said as he ran off to get the door. I swear that old man moved faster than his bones would allow him.
2 minutes later Ryan walked in and began to help unpack."Hey are you okay?" I asked Ryan,"You haven't said one word. Not even a hey."
"It's nothing." Ryan said.
"It's obviously something." I said a little annoyed.
"Eugene, I like you. You have this aura about you that makes anyone like you. I would like to ask you to a movie, but I think you have bigger plans. Right?" Ryan asked.
I looked up at him. "Yah theres that aura until you actually get to know me."I said coldly but couldn't stand to look at him so I turned around" Your right I do have bigger plans. I'm not normal, Ryan. I can't be." I finished up but felt a tear crawl down my cheek.
"I don't like normal. I like you, can't you see." Ryan said, but then seemed to see I was crying "Hey! Don't cry, please."
Ryan walked over to me and hugged me tightly. "I advice you get a new girl to fancy, because I'm a wreck."I said.
I couldn't hold it in anymore I let out a sob and many more came after. I clung to Ryan as my knees gave out on me. I slide to the wood floors in my room and brought Ryan down with me.
Ryan pulled me into his lap and I laid my head in the space between his neck and his shoulder. He rubbed my back as he whispered over and over again 'its okay'.
My eyes became very heavy and the last thing I remember Ryan saying 'I'll break you down'.
A scream pierced the silent. Followed by splashes, more screams, and sobs.
I sat on the rocks looking down at myself. The other me was in the water drowning."THIS IS WHAT YOU WANTED ISN'T IT!!!!" I screamed over and over at the other me in the water. Was this really what I looked like? No, when I died I had peace this isn't peace. No, No , No.
A terribly evil laugh erupted into the mix of noises and I realized that it was me making that horrid laugh.
I heard an unknown voice saying,"Eugene, Eugene, Eugene." over and over again and then I awoke.
My eyes met Ryan's and he said" Its morning."
Peeling my eyes from Ryan's gaze I looked around and found that we were in the guest bed and the morning sun was streaming in from the big bow window.
My gaze turned back to Ryan, who was staring at me. He smiled and I smiled back but I knew that it was fake because I was not able to smile not after that dream.
So much death, but not enough peace.
