"That was informative," Greg remarked as he and Susan got back into the car following her twelve week visit at Dr. Daniels office.

"It really was," Susan told him. "I am very impressed by Dr. Daniels. I'm really surprised by how willing he is to plan ahead."

"It's remarkable to me how much he's been able to anticipate possible problems not only from your current tests and examinations but from your medical history as well," Greg said as they got in and started the car.

"Marion told me he has sort of a flare for that kind of thing," Susan shared.

"It seems she is right," Greg remarked.

Susan smiled. "It does to me too ... and I am so glad he is. Always before when I've tried to talk to doctors about the things that generally go wrong for me at this point, they tell me not to worry because, and I quote, 'this is an entirely new pregnancy and I shouldn't assume the same thing is going to happen that happened before'. And that was after it had happened three times in a row!" Susan exclaimed. "It's been four times now, after Zack." Susan paused, thinking. "I'm so happy he's taking the things I say seriously."

"Do you really think it will make a difference?" Greg wondered.

"Yes! Now that we've gotten to this point and Dr. Daniels is looking for those specific things early ... I feel like there really is a possibility we could succeed." Susan grinned, looking happier than she had in a long time. "We might actually get a baby out of this, Greg ... us!"

"It is within the Lord's ability to grant miracles, Susan," Greg reminded her. "It is not only dependent on the skill of the physician or the wisdom of men."

Susan only smiled at him, glowing.

"Now do you feel ready to celebrate?" Greg asked.

"Definitely," Susan told him and Greg directed their car towards their new house, up in the Malibu Hills.

Greg and Susan's plan following her appointment was to spend the rest of the day without the children with them, together off on their own. As a means of celebrating the end of Susan's first trimester and the beginning of her second, and they planned to do it by spending time together in their new house.

"Are you sure it's alright?" Susan asked. "Can you really spare the time to do this?"

"Of course. We planned to do this, remember?" Greg told her.

"I know, but I really would like to take my time there, wandering about and thinking about things on my own... you know, getting to know it. But I feel like you already know it very well, so I wondered if it might be a waste of time for you."

"No, definitely not. It is our house, Susan," Greg assured her. "Although I have spent a good deal of time there, to tell you the truth, I have looked forward to looking at it again with you, on our own. I think this is a very good idea, especially since I didn't go last Friday to check on things."

And so it was decided, they would spend the day at the house. They picked up ingredients for lunch at the store on the way, intending to keep them at the cottage, and arrived by mid-morning, much earlier than Greg usually did.

The changes to the property since their last visit were immediately apparent, as soon as they turned from the street in front of their new house. The asphalt crew had been there, creating a solid surface in place of the gravel drive all the way from the parking area at the front of the house out to the street. Also, very close to the street and on either side of the drive, forms for pillars which would eventually hold a gate and lights flanked the entrance to their property, and the wall separating their home from the street was starting to take shape.
