I was going to be like my mother at all costs. I've learnt from her that sometimes, all that is needed is to believe in the people you love, and who knows? You might get to learn to love them better, even with their flaws.
"Thanks for sticking up for me".My sister said to me after the whole ruckus.
I was able to save her butt again, as usual but this situation seemed to be more serious than the previous ones. But I still chose to trust my sister.
If anyone, I was the only person who knew her well in the school. So, I couldn't just let her be accused of something I knew she couldn't do, especially not on my watch.
"Your sister may have gotten off the hook this time, but if we don't find the person behind this in a week time, we would have to hand the matter over to the house mistress for more investigation. Your sister might not be so safe then because of, you know what". Promise had said, gesturing to my sisters handwriting on the note.
I looked her in the eye.
"I promise you, my sister has nothing to do with this".The lengths I would go to defend my sister. I thought as I stared at her looking cheerful after being let off the hook.
"I really mean it, thank you sis". She said, noticing me staring at her.
I smiled, still staring at her.
"You owe me...big time".**********************************
I got into the classroom right in time for Maths class and walked straight to my seat beside Michael, who was staring at me all the way.
"Um, its obvious you're staring". I said nervously as I sat down.
He smiled and looked away.
"Nothing, its just...your hair". He said, looking up at my hair.
"Oh" I said. I definitely brought this upon myself. I had decided to do something different with my hair today. It was Victoria's advice of course.
In her words, "you need to add a little bit of colour to your black-and-white life, Doyin"
I chuckled because it was funny how she thought decorating my hair to look like that of Minnie mouse could add colour to my life.
She packed my hair up and squeezed it into two fluffy buns with two pink hair pins, one with a butterfly and one with a flower, holding them in place.
"It really brings out your eyes." He said, still staring.
"I like it""Well, thanks for the compliment". I replied, trying not to smile too much. I never expected him to take notice. But he did.
"Oh, there's more where that came from". He said cheekily.
I almost cringed.
"Funny". I said, jokingly."Speaking of funny....". He suddenly came to his senses, thankfully.
"What?". I asked.
"Isnt it quite funny that our long awaited math test results are finally coming in 5..4..3..2". He began to count.
I looked through the classroom window and spotted our maths teacher, Mr richatd coming Into the classroom. His hand were full with sheets of paper, which looked like our test scripts. It took him long enough.
"1...and here they come". Said Micheal with a hint of excitement in his voice as Mr Richards stepped in.
I looked at him.
"Well, someone seems pumped up to see their result, probably because you're sure you did so well". I said.
