"Moyo!"
"Moyo!!"
I yelled, running out of the class and following her as she ran through the classroom area to the field.
"Moyo, please wait!" I was already out of breath and it felt like i was running a sprint. This girl was damn fast. And she didn't look back.
Thankfully, she stopped when she got to the middle of the field and sat on the fresh grass that smelled like organic fertilisers.
I got to where she sat and looked down at her.
She looked up at me and I caught an awfully red set of eyes and a face soaked with massive tears.
"You know, for someone who has always acted tough, you sure do cry a lot". I said, sitting right next to her.
"Leave me alone, Doyin." she replied, wiping her tears with the back of her hands.
"You know I can't do that", I replied, looking her in the eyes.
She sighed.
"I'm sure you're here to convince me that you didn't rat me out. But you don't need to, I know exactly who did this"
"She was there with me at the vice principals office. I guess she was always bound to find out in the end, "
"I'm sorry." I said.
"It's not your fault, doyin"
"I shouldn't have brought you into this in the first place. What if you got into trouble with me?"
"Well, I didn't."
"And that's a relief, but right now, I'm not taking any more risks. I already have enough guilt."
"Our deal ends here, Doyin. You don't have any reason to meet with me again. I'll face my disciplinary action, leave the school and never come back."
"What do you mean our deal is over?"
I hadn't even gotten the chance to bring her back to christ yet because all these happened very quickly, and she was already sending me away?
"I'm leaving anyways, Doyin"
"Was all this just about the deal?"
"What do you want from me, Doyin? Because I know I don't need anything from you anymore. My secret is already out."
"Alright, if you're going to be like that, then I'll leave, but on one condition."
It was time for me to fulfil all righteousness, God helping me.
"Again, what do you want, Doyin?"
"I want you to accept Jesus, Moyo"
She paused for a moment. Then she smiled and looked at me.
"Accept Jesus? I'm a Christian Doyin"
"I knew you would say that. Yes, you're a Christian, but you haven't fully accepted Jesus yet"
"Doyin, are you asking me this because of what I did?"
"Of course not." I replied and patted her hands. I was amazed by my own softness and compassion. I would have never expected to see myself care for someone this dearly.
"I can tell that you're suffering inside, fighting battles that cannot be seen by the human eyes but I can see them through your eyes"
"And Jesus is the only one that can fight those emotional battles, you can't do it yourself"
"Doyin". She pulled my hands away.
"My parents are pastors, I know Jesus, I've gone to church my whole life"
